^^^ 16 levels was a function of only one pad. So if you went it step edit, for example, you would see your whole melody composed of only eg. Pad A1, just with a T (tuning) paramenter changed. This made it a pain when you wanted to go back an edit what you had done. Autochromatic spreads the sample over the whole program, so you have a lot more functionality and control, eg. seperate Amp envelops, LOF filter, plus its a lot easier to edit your sequence (especially in grid mode!).
