In my opinion it would be awesome if you could adress each track within the MPC from an external Midi source through one dedicated Midi channel. Let's say track 1 in the MPC would only react to Midi messages sent from channel 1, track 2 to Midi messages from channel 2 etc.
This way you can use the internal sequencer, however it would also be possible to use any DAW on the market and turn the MPC into a full-blown external sampler minus keymapping. Wonder how difficult this would be to implement?
