JJ OS and MIDI Out timing

Is the MIDI timing in the JJ OS tighter or faster than Akai's OS by any chance?

My MPC (especially the pads) tends to be slightly less responsive when dealing with external MIDI devices (i.e. triggering sound modules or software based instruments).

That's just the nature of midi unfortunately. It'll never be as tight as triggering internal samples. The JJ OS will be no different.

From my experience of using some of the latest synths/sound modules, the MIDI timing of the MPC is as good or better than a software based DAW.

my MIDI response is super tight.

My MPC is lagging a bit.

For example, I'm using Battery 3 within Logic and when I use a different controller (i.e. keyboard controller or something else) the timing is dead on.

When I'm using the MPC's pads to trigger the same (wether its Battery, EXS etc..) there is a slight lag in the response.

I should mention that all my MIDI devices are going through the same MIDI interface so it's not the interface nor is it the software.

The MPC is also very finicky about different velocities when triggering things "outside" the box (unlike other controllers).

Any ideas?

If you have your MPC and MIDI controller connected to the same interface and experience a lag..something is most likely wrong in your set-up.

I get the same response with my MPC 2500 when using it with software or hardware synths. The same holds true when I use my keyboard controller.
