***SOLVED***axiom 49 problems

ILL LEAVE THIS UP FOR ANYONE ELSE THAT NEEDS HELP WITH SIMILAR ISSUES

ive had my axiom for a few days now, simply cannot get it to trigger anything in the mpc, its gotta be something too simple, heres my set up

mpc's got one sample on it auto chromed

one midi cable going from axiom midi OUT to mpc midi IN (number 1)

**Axiom is powered by a 12 V adapter (that I paid 20$ for), so there is nothing that could be possibly interfering via USB.

MPC (JJ os 44B) Midi settings are as follows:

Active track recive chanel: ALL
Soft Thru: AS TRACK
Sequence change by program change: ON
Pad to internal sound: ON

The rest of the mpc settings are standard, on the main screen nothings changed, drum track, PC:Seq---, Midi:off (I've tried with midi at 1A as well, no difference)

Axiom settings are simple as possible...

-Global channel is C01
-The preset setup is #1, General MIDI


Please someone give me a hand with this so i can cut this technical shit and get down to business,

Make sure you've selected the right autochromatic program for your track.

I did, theres only one program and one track in one sequence with one sample loaded, im not getting any response no matter what, anything else you can think of?

To set the channel of your keyboard:
49-and 61-note versions:
<Press the Glob Chan button.The LCD will show the channel on which the keyboard is currently transmitting.
<Enter a channel between 1-16 on the numeric keypad.The LCD will update to display the new channel selected as
you enter the data.
<You can also use the -/+buttons to step through the channels.

on mpc set the same channel for track/main screen/

I said, the global channel is set to C01, on the mpc I now have PC on the main screen set to off, and the midi on the main screen set to 1A

Still nothing, i have the same sample assigned to every pad, and the notes have been set to go from 35 - 98.

The Track is set to drum, and again I have one midi cable going from axiom out to mpc in.

Any other suggestions

ah my Friend I had a M-Audio keystation doing the same thing, I took it back to the shop were they tested other keyboards with the 2500 one being an axiom, what ever configuration you tried the 2500 could not see it. I sent the 2500 back to Akai who tested it. All was okay I contacted customer support for Akai and M-Audio and Im still waitng for a reply. The only fix I could come up with was use a different keyboad. I am using a Novation works no problem stright out the box.

I had a similar problem with another M-Audio kb and a Yamaha RS7000.

Diagnostics/workaround:
Try connecting the Axiom and MPC through a MIDI filter box, and filter out the Active Sense messages (part of MIDI realtime messages).

If you don't have a MIDI filter box, use your PC&MIDI interface - load MidiOX and turn on the MIDI filter (the funnel icon) - select Realtime, check Active Sense. In port selection (the midi jack icon) make sure the IN (Axiom) and OUT (MPC) are selected, and the "Connect IN to Out" is checked. Make sure you connect the Axiom via it's MIDI port to the PC, not via USB...

If you go to [mode] + PAD9
then press F3

now press keys on your keyboard.

do you see any changes to the selected note? the black selection box should jump to the note you're pressing. if it's not doing anything, the mpc's not receiving any note data from the keyboard. it may be a setting on the keyboard.

thanks everyone for the help, its solved, i bought 2 brand new midi cables and plugged one to the in one to the out and presto i have midi control.

Now i am not sure weather the problem was that i need to have 2 midi cables hooked up or that my first midi cable was just simply F'd
