so whats the big deal?

could someone point me in the right direction. what features does the jj os add? what are the diff's btw the os that ships with the 1k and JJ's os? thanks alot!

from there, take a look at the online manual and you'll see tons of info with illustrations explaining the added functions.

there's gotta be a dozen threads that go through this. JJ's site also has most this info too.

Anyways, the main thing is that you can stop the metronome click without stopping the sequencer. Also there's a streamlined program edit page that allows you to edit an entire programs pads at once. Direct record lets you record audio directly into special sequence tracks. Grid edit, for a more visual editing of track/midi info (opposed to step edit). Recordable track mutes. Simult pad (one pad triggers another). Simult Sequence (plays 2 sequences simultaneously. Improved qLink mode, including new fuctions for controlling pad velocity, sample start-time and midi CC's with qLink. Input pitch shift (realtime pitch shift of incoming audio (sort of a stand-alone application)). Alphebetical file browsing (huge improvement). Shift plus data dial for 10 unit increments for quicker dialing. Of course Pong! Much improved sample slicing (see JJ's site). No more save errors (huge problem with the original OS). Midi Time code support (I think that's what it's called). Note shift, swing and tempo can be assigned to qLinks (NICE!). I'm probably leaving some stuff out, but that should give you an idea. And he's dropping a bunch of new shig on us tonight or tomorrow.

ya i checked out the online manual but couldn't decipher what was going on. I ve never used an mpc before so im unaware what would be diff.
just looking for a quick chart of changes/improvements. seems like it gives u a lot of the 2500 features.
I sequence and beatmake in Logic Pro. I love the feel of the mpc and just checkin to see if its a tool to add to my box.

Using Logic Pro and the MPC together would be even more fun.
You can make all your beats on the MPC and "track & sync" right into Logic, where you can add VST instruments & effects, as well as mastering everything in the end.

Alternately, you can just buy the MPD24 to bang out your beats into Logic Pro.
But consider how you'd like to work...
If you'd like to sample and sequence audio and MIDI without the computer, you'll love the MPC. Its less strain on the eyes than staring into a computer monitor all the time. Plus you can take the MPC anywhere you like, plug it in and get to work right away.

If that doesn't make a difference, the MPD24 (or any similar pad controller) will still make working in Logic Pro alot more fun than just using a mouse or a set of keys.

i see a lot of reviews/google hits for the jj os giving the 1000 "some of the features of the more expensive 2500" but at this point that's misinformation, the jj os for either 1000 or 2500 gives either machine waaaay more than the current akai 2500 os
