You have to do your midi stuff in sequence mode.

I play along to the song sequence for live performance
I know I can convert to a sequence but I like to jam in song mode while I construct the track.

It's no biggy but I could do it with the akai os

cheers

you have to be on the track in which your midi is set to do midi in song mode

ie

track 1 - internal samples, pgm "drum"
track 2 - internal sample, pgm "violin"
track 3 - external midi, pgm "chromatic" set to out 1A

be on track 3 when you enter song mode and you should be able to play!

Would goobadrum be limited to ONLY trk 3 while in song mode?

ie: Can only switch midi trks when exiting and entering back into song mode?

no joy antonym , with the akai os , as you say , I had to have the track displayed in the sequences that I wanted to play in song mode. - not happening in 4.55/4.58

the midi out channel setting , ie - 1A , won't effect the incoming midi ...

the mpc will only 'midi in' on the track/program selected in the sequence,

you only get one 'active' track , which is fine...jus be nice if I could get it happening in song mode

Thanks for your help guys !
