weird filtering effect when i hit a pad multiple times

by definition you're right, it shouldn't flange, but i think he was just trying to find a word to describe how the sound was being played more than once. i would guess that the sounds aren't really overlapping but rather the second sound is just cutting off the first.

you're hitting the pad twice. it happens to everyone when they first start using an mpc. when you strike the pad, your finger is bouncing up and then hitting the pad again. it's happening so quickly you're not even noticing it. it will take some time getting used to.

but i'm not new to the MPC game either. i picked up the 2000xl back in 2001 and for the first few weeks i couldn't figure out why pads were being triggered twice. turned out i was unknowingly double triggering the pads since my finger was bouncing up and hitting the pad again.

even now, after 7 years, every once in a while i double trigger pads by accident. so if i were you, i wouldn't be so quick to rule that out.

by the way, i have the 2500 now, so i've experienced this with both the 2000xl and the 2500, and i've also seen posts on here from other people who have had the same problem. i'm willing to admit that it's user error on my part and not a flaw of the pads or the OS.

i just recorded myself double triggering a pad to demonstrate. i apologize for the file format (3g2 which i had to zip up since my web server wouldn't allow direct links to it, but it plays in quicktime), i had to record it on my phone since someone hasn't returned my camera after borrowing it about a month ago.
