can't overdub converted songs

so I made a 136 bar song and converted it back to a sequence so I can edit it. Everything is fine until I hit play/overdub - it gives me the clicks to count in but then stops before the sequence starts?

what's going on there. a bug? or am I doing something wrong?

I guess its just too long?

so I cut the track down to 55 bars and can now record q-link data and track mutes but if I try and record notes from the pads they sound but don't record - afterwards the track is still blank
