Small amount of code adjustment for a helpful feature

I would really like the MPC1000, when moving from a sample assigned to one pad to the assigning the next pad & sample to not return to the begining of the sample list and to begin at the last sample assigned in the list. I know i can use shift to go thru the samples in tens, but it would speed things up incredibly to just start where the last used one was. Does anyone else agree? Or know of any other way of assigning samples that have been saved on to the cf without a program (Not autochop)

that would make sense, I second that

I agree. I usually chop different parts of song (who doesnt) and then after I'm finished I like having them on the same program. Re arranging them takes more time than it should

hopefully this can be implemented as im sure it would not use too much memory/code.

response from jj to this months ago was that it was a good idea, but not something he was gonna put in because it would "confuse new users"

i am growing impatient with these slow sam "new users"

maybe i am reading your qestion wrong but it sounds like you need to turn "sample assign to pad window" on.

mode>load>sample assign to pad window: ON

very intuitive, and keeps the last sample loaded highlighted so when you go to load the next sample, it starts where you left off.

In GPE

1) MODE+Pad 11 (GPE)
2) Cusor over to sample
3) Press WHOLE button
4) scroll and select sample
5) after sample is selected, Press and HOLD F4 (A01) and scroll clockwise to A02
6) select next sample.
7) repeat process until you've selected all your samples

And I also agree with pad, deff turn the "Sample Assign to Pad Window" ON and use that. Saves a lot of time.

Thanks to everyone for there helpful suggestions. I use an Akai S5000 as well as an old S950 and i am used to the ways in which these machines assign samples within programs. Seems like its a worthy suggestion tho.

Not sure if Antonyms statement about "slow sam new users" is a dig at me for making this suggestion. Was it ?

don't sleep on this. this is the fastest way to assign samples. haha how's it workin out for you hereo?

and oma t: no. it was a dig at people who would be baffled by the implementation of your suggestion - which i think is a great idea, by the way.

thanks people, the function sample assign to pad window achieves what i was requesting it does need some button pressing but doesnt everything! Until i can find someone who can make me a direct Usb to my frontal cortex then my fingers will be busy !!

i have dreamed about this so many times.

On the MPC4000, when you assign samples to pads in Program mode, you are at the sample you last assigned when you move to a new pad. It's weird to me that it shouln't be like this on any MPC.

Again on the 4000, the sample list also always remains in alphabetical order. When I first started using the JJOS it seemed to me he'd made it alphabetical also, which was a huge relief, but now they're not anymore, at least mine aren't. Am I wrong that they were in the first place?
