im still on 4.75, but am assuming that what im going to say hasnt changed in any of the newest releases.

i fired up the mp(standard 2 bar sequence by default), loaded an acappella and hit play. my question is...

shouldnt the audio track play to the end? basically what i was going to do is throw down a 2 bar hi hat track to get on time and go from there. but the acapella just loops at 2 bars.

i dont know if that is how it is suppposed to be or if there is something i should set. im not new to the mp, i just wanted to try a complete remix in the box. i know that i can set the bars of the sequence to 200 bars or whatever, but i thought that the audio track was supposed to be a continuous playing track.

and i know i can do it in software, ive done that before, but i thought i could do it in the mp with the audio track. just an experiment.

any thoughts?

nope, the audio track will only play for the length of your sequence. if you record an audio track that's longer than the sequence, then it lengthens the sequence by adding blank bars to the end of it.

audio tracks are basically just continuous sample tracks that can only play one sample which begins at 01.01.00 and won't wrap around to the beginning of your sequence. it sucks, i know, but some people like it.

here's the definition of a continuous sample track from the MPC2500 manual:

You can play a phrase sample along with the sequence.
Normally, while playing a phrase sample within a sequence,
the phrase sample will not be played if its Note On is located
before the play back point of the sequence. But if you
active the Continuous sample track, the MPC2500 will play
the sample from the point which matches the playing timing,
even the sequence starts after its Note ON.

what you probably want to do, is set mute/stop to THROUGH in options. then, create a blank track, and trigger your a capella on that track. hit play-start on the mpc, then after the a capella has been triggered, mute the track. this should make it so that the a capella continue's to play, but every time your sequence loops back around, it won't re-trigger the a capella.
