Hey there MPC headz:

I've been using a 2000xl for a while now, but recently decided from the help of this forum to head on over to the 1000 and JJ os.

I'm curious, is the LFO on the 1000 similar to the rotary speaker filter on the 2000xl, or can the same type of sound be emulated? I've been looking all over the place for some solid examples of the LFO, but have yet to find one. I know that it comes in the form of a sin, triangle, rec. etc wave, and modifies the sample, but other than that I am clueless. Can you imitate the same kind of wah-wah effect from tweaking the filters on the xl?

So please, a good explanation or even better a sound file would be greatly appreciated.

i'm not sure if i would call it rotary speaker sound... it's an lfo which you can assigne volume and filter to. this gives you some kind of a wha-wha effect, if you want. but rotary speaker usually distort the sound as well, and this can not be done with the lfo.

lfo's ok - simple but can be messed with to good effect, but not truly like a rotary - as in THAT stereo effect, but the filters can certainly be linked to the lfo.

you could also chuck a flying pan on there too.

Yeah the flying pan is more like rotary speaker emulation to me. Adding the LFO is a great idea, never thought about combining the two, but sounds promising. Some things are done a little different on the 1K than the 2K, but I feel like its easier to do things on the 1K that I used to do on the 2K, than to try and do things on the 2K that I do on the 1K. Results may not be identical, but similar.
