Sooo... I installed the os version 3.x and am feeling it so far, but I have a few questions. I speaky no Japanese so I came here for suppost from 2500 heads that are into JJ as well.
First, when I pay for 5.x will the future updates (I can only hope there will be more) be $30 a crack as well or is it a package deal?
Second, I fugging dying over here, does the new os save mixer, effect, comp, eq settings etc.? Pleeease tell me im just not saving correctly and I can already keep that. I like to slowly tweak all those not just have a "mix down session"..

Also incidentally, does akai/numark intend on trying to keep up with this cat/crew at all? I could only hope they would try to take his source code and attempt to improve on the "official" product. Maybe theyre happy to let him/them get busy and take the lumps...
So, anyone with the news?

peace

hey nickel, the $30 is a one time deal. Your mpc will remember the code even if you were to switch back and forth between OS (JJ and/or Akai), and it is good for all future updates at no additional charge.

Thanks Roz. I was using a friends mpc1000 last night; the original one. The pads were HORRIBLE! I don't know how he makes a beat on that thing. 75% of his pads were dead and you got to press the pads super hard just to hear a sound. Not cool at all.
Now back to regularly scheduled programming. :)

I understand where they are coming from, but didn’t every single MPC1000 buyer have the chance to say “these pads are just crappy, i’m taking my MPC back to the store” a bit earlier on in the game?
Products get improvements (small and big) all the time, and a lot of the time you don’t even get a chance to upgrade your v1.0 model.

WE, MPC 2500 users have known for years that the MPC 1000 was built like a piece of sh!t. MPC 1000 users had every opportunity to return their defective products. But no....they would much rather keep it and complain. In fact many of them have been complaining for over 4 years  The others simply bought used MPCs off of eBay. I would do just like Akai is doing....ignoring them. By the way...if the new MPC 1000s are shipping with the improved pad design, it's time I pick my son up one for Christmas :P
