Im assuming that with the OS2 rolling out that JJ's done with the OS mods and tweaks. Ive been looking at the info for the OS2 and I think that Im going to stick with the OS1. I dont see anything that sounds to amazing or far off from the OS1 and If I have to go through bug after bug and update after update then I'll pass on it.

I am curious to know how those who have tried it think about it compared to the current OS. Im all for change but how much more can we expect the little blue box to crank out safely. It seems a bit greedy considering how far we've come from akai and their OS.

there's tons that's very, very far off functionally from os1. os2 is a sampler - os1 is still just a waveform sequencer. a damn good one, but with very little relative control over samples.

os2 is in the middle of development. it's too early for a full switch, and thus too early for judgment.

as for the question of how much we can expect, remember--you're basing your perception on what we had from the akai os. that os is functionally crippled--akai cripples their own products in the code department. the 2500 akai os is the same as the 1000 akai os, with extra functions coded in. the 1000 specwise is just as capable, that is to say it has the same set of legs, but the akai os forces it to go on crutches regardless. an even stronger claim can be placed on the 500.

the most we know about how much the mpc1000 is capable of is that it's too much to have adsr/aftertouch control and filter2 at the same time. that leaves a lot of room in between.
