I know this has been covered somewhere but i can't find it.
I'm using JJ 4.95 and this is really stressing me out.

When I go to sequence edit and copy my 4 bar sequence to make it an 8 bar
sequence, it shows as having 8 bars but it still only loops/plays around the first 4 bars,
this is really holding me up....

it means i'm having to create a new sequence for every 4 bars of my song...

this is a serious bug, and means I can't hold down a pad to play a long sample
either....

or am i missing something?

if anyone can help or point me to a relevant post i'd be grateful

Works fine for me. Try to explain every step that you do.

highlight seq1, press window, copy to seq 2 .. that should get two 4 bar copies of the same thing. then you can edit one, go to song mode, then convert seq1 and seq2 back to seq 1 and then delete seq 2.. then yyou have one 8 bar loop.

or, you can just go into song mode - seq1 repeat 2x - convert to a new seq.. dig?

Well, I'm getting this sometimes in a fever of copying and pasting, but than I take a look
at the Loop field and last bar is set to number, like 4 which is weird because I usually set it to END.
If last bar is set to END it should do what you need.
Oh sh!t. Got it, now!
If you delete bars from the end of sequence like:
from 8 bars you're deleting last 4 using seq edit
THAN you have 4 bar seq, but take a look at Loop field again
It's set to 4 instead of END.
So the bug is in delete bars option.
And this is a workflow bug for me because I didn't want that.
