I always wondered why there is no feature that automatically assigns the samples you load to a program.
If I start making a beat I usually load a bunch of drums into the memory and then assign them one after another to the pads.
This sometimes really pisses me off cause you always have to remember which sound you already assigned and so on...

Do you all sort your drums and sounds in your own way (GM?) so there is no need for such a feature or do I simply don't find it?!

i only load drums that i need. i don't create programs with random drum sounds and would have no need to auto-assign sounds to pads.

i wouldn't want to auto-assign sounds to pads anyway, i like to know where i put them.

but to each his own.

I've always found this a little strange also. This is deffinately a feature I'd find helpful. You can always go back and reasign...

There is such a feature... when I load a sample the MPC asks me if I want to assign it to the next available pad in the currrent program, this works fine, although it is not a batch job. And the MPC automatically moves to next available pad for each new sample loaded. This is an option you can turn on and off, but I can't remember where the command is hidden. I will look it up later (I'm not in the studio right now...)

If you want to automatically generate a program with 64 samples in one move you could use BlueBox on your PC to create the program, and then load it in the MPC.

Yeah, I remember having that feature in my MPC 2000.
I thought this was a 2000-exclusive feature.
If it is still in JJs OS does anyone know how to turn it on? I always liked it on my 2000XL.
Does this feature also work if you load a whole folder with drums? Don't really remember...

try and hit the window key when navigatiing in LOAD mode, it's there somewhere, probably when you have highlighted a sample.
And no, it will not work with multiple samples (i.e. a full folder), only one by one, but already saves you a lot of time.

Found it - thanks.
Definately better than assigning them after loading.

Thanks freezerman! I'll deffinately check into that.

i assumed that you were talking about loading multiple sounds at once to a program. i didn't realize you were loading the sounds one at a time.

you have to turn on the assign to pad window like someone already said.
