so it might be a the receiver being not fast enough (which is common).

i tried and could not reproduce the problem with a poly evolver.

and the evolvers are really good at receiving patches (change is instant).

ok so it could well be the synth either receiving it and processing the pc slowly, or the synth architecture being heavy on dsp? and taking a moment to set the patch up - i use a nord modular, and each time a pc is received over any of the four inst 'slots' / midi channels, the whole synth mutes for a fraction of a second, highly undesirable, but i come to live with it and stage the pc commands sent from mpc by setting them in the seq just before the notes play, say at the 001:01:00, when the first note may be 001:04:00....or have the patches at zero volume when they all load so no dropout is noticable - then fade them up or even put a volume cc command in there too.

Know what? I have had this problem. The reason I wasn't sure was because not all of the midi modules I've used have that problem of temporary muting when processing a PC command.

Definitely a problem on the midi receiving end.

yeah more than likely that its the module end responding slowly, i think in general, many modules rarely switch instantly, or seamlessly without clicks.

even in software - there's often a click, as the waves of one voice dont interpolate from the previous voice waves....esp if the sounds are quite different.

but these issues can be factored into the situation, like the timing in advance of the pc commands.

Good that we tracked down that "bug" too, finally
