I just turned on my Mp and loaded my latest project and when I hit one of the pads it triggers more than one sample. Only one is assigned. Thats the first 8 pads. The last 8 pads trigger nothing. When I put it in program mode to see what is registering, I hit a pad and the screen goes back and forth between two sample names. I tried loading old programs and they are doing the same. I also tried reinstalling versions 1 and two with no help. What is up?

Here's my next step. I plan to re-format my cf card and transfer the most recent files I have. Wish me luck, and let this be a reminder to back-up your stuff...

which OS did you use to create the project?
as you know OS2 is not compatible with OS1.
check you are not using simult pad - if it's OS2

No it's not that. I've tried both versions. I've even reloaded older OS versions of both and the problem is still there. I would think that it were a hardware issue, like a loose conection or something, but when I load a project on the main screen were the project name would be, there is a question mark followed by the name of a file that is not even part of that program. Could I have damaged my CF card? I have saved everything, reformated, then loaded up older files that I know use to work, andI get the same thing. Right now Im going to take out the card, sample a beat, chop and asign it, and I'll see if that works. Wish me luck as I am about to bash this thing with a hammer... Thanks for your thoughts though, if you have any more ideas let me know...

Wierd. I turned it on with no CF card, sampled some drums, and chopped it up. When I went to asign to pads, it just started playing random samples. I went to the main screen, and again there was a question mark like this: ?Program01. Then I turned it off and back on and this time just made 16 quick samples without chopping. These I was able to asign and all of the pads seem to work fine. What is going on? I have had a lot of trouble with my computer. Could I have passed a virus onto my MPC? Even if I did, wouldn't reloading the OS fix this? Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else? Where's my money, and why is my lip all busted up?

have you tried doing a factory reset on the MPC?

Thanks crossings, but for some reason the problem seems to have solved itself. Very strange. I'm even loading the same files and they all seem to work now! I do plan to do a factory reset, just for safety sake. Thanks to everyone who tried to help. If anyone else runs into this problem, don't smash your mpc, just work through it... Peace...

wudsiba check your 128mb chip, take it out - boot up without it and do some tests.
maybe the chip is not seated correctly. or even worked loose.
as suggested by crossings also try a factory reset.

cheers
