Hi!

How can I make sure, that a Midi Clock Signal is send out via MIDI Out A?

I am trying to sync a 303 clone (including its built in sequencer) with my MPC1K, but it just won't work!

Tried the menues through Mode + F9, but nothing seems to work ... I'm desperate!

Can someone help?

Cheers, pbanken

Have you checked with other equipment, maybe with a software sequencer? Just to make sure that the sync messages are sent out. That's what I would do. + you can always see in the program if it follows the mpc, when you go through bars in your machine, even without hitting Play button.

I just hooked the Bassline2 synth on my Mac, started Ableton, and established a Midi conncetion, and voila, it works fine.

Therefore the problem must lie within the MPC. It just looks like the MPC isn't sending out any Midi Clock signal ...

To make sure: I do not want to send any other information from the MPC to the Bassline2. I just need the Midi Clock, since the Bassline2 features a built in sequencer.

Duh, I hope it will eork with the MPC .....

The sync send has two toggles, one to turn it on and select the output(s) and another below it to chose which type of synchronization you want to send (clock, mtc etc.) so make sure you've selected what you need from both options.

I think it's possible that I once could not get the thing to send sync after some update or something. If it did I'm pretty sure I fixed it with a system default reset.

Other than that vague memory, I've never had any problems sending clock.

Just for your information:

I've now tried three different OS versions on the MPC, the official one, the JJ 3.08 and the latest 4.something, and nothing works with the Bassline2 ...

Users in other forums have reported that in their setup this combination does not have any problems ... It's killing me ... adding the fact that the Bassline worked just fine when hooked up to my desktop Mac, I could just cry, since my nerves are wrecked .... The option menues for Midi Set Up in the MPC are quite easy to understand, I followed each instruction, but it just won't work ...

What should I do, I really need to hook the two up ...

Connect the MPC to the midi interface on the mac and check the output with any midi monitor program. Make sure the applications' filter settings are not blocking system realtime. When you start the sequencer you should be able to see both the transport commands and the timing clock pulses stream by. BTW -- unlike some devices, the MPC will not send clock until the sequencer is engaged.

You could also just set up any slaveable sequencer app and try to send it clock from the MPC.

hello,

to be absolutely sure

1. [MODE] + Pad 9
2. select SYNC tab
3. cursor to top right and select Sync out: AB (Master)
4. just below it Mode : MIDI CLOCK
5. hit play start - midi clock will be sent to midi outs A & B
6. take a midi lead from either output A or B to the midi input on your device.

there should be nothing in the left (slave) section = Mode: OFF

that's it - check the jj site for pix

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2/mtcmmc_e.htm

if this don't work your device is ignoring midi clock for some reason.
the MPC will definitely be sending midi clock.

sorry dumb i know - but make sure you have selected midi clock NOT midi time code.

hope this helps
