scaling a sample

I'm not sure when the proper terminology is called, but can the 2500 turn one sample into different notes (NOT AUTO CHROMATIC) that sound like the original. I'm playing around with the patched phrase option and I don't hear anything from it. It's one of the many options I've never bothered to figure out because I've never needed it but I thought it had something to do with what I'm looking for.

Just found that you can't "scale" a sample on the 2500. The 4000/5000 is starting to look better and better every day to me.
