Sequence doesn't respond to Q-Link swing or note shift...

I set the Q-Link to make changes to the time/swing and when I play my sequence on a track, nothing happens. When I go in and "fix" the shift/swing parameters it works fine. Obviously it's more ideal making these adjustments on the fly.

Am I missing something here?

hmmm, okay gotcha.

I think i was confused by Lithion's video in this thread. I wasn't aware that he was using the Note Repeat function while adjusting the swing.

Swing/ shift>qlink needs to affect playback of a sequence in REALTIME.
Targeted to a track, or globally.

That's what everyone expects it to do and it doesn't.

Yeah, I made the transition from the rs7000 (rm1-x). The one area where the MPC lacks IMO is it's limited editing ability to sequences in real time. Swing isn't such a big deal for me but I used to use time shift all the time on my RS.

Also, I could make changes in step edit w/out having to stop the sequence, which was a great feature.

Not many things the MP can't do, but in this area, it seems somewhat limited.

listening to me making music is unlistenable, because i am constantly stopping, playing, skipping, scrubbing

mpc1000 is my first non-PC software midi sequencer
but acid and reason, back in the day, separated the play cursor from the edit cursor. and i used it all the time, didn't think i could live without it

It really has to do with what your used to. Kindof like how mac people hate PC's and vise-versa. If you start off w/ a particular sequencer that has certain features, then move to another one that is missing some of those features, naturally it will be somewhat of a hindrance in the beginning.

Really I'm just nitpicking, this is certainly not a feature that will hurt my sequencing ability, just somewhat I was used to before.

major cosign on this. i'm wondering if the reason the mpc doesn't do this is a cpu issue? or maybe JJ just never got around to it. i'd love to see this in os 2.

Pad pattern is a step in the right direction for this type of control. As it stands at the moment you can shift the timing of a group of notes that have already been recorded in the sequencer in the grid loop edit. I could see qlink controlling that type of function without two many extra steps.
The loop thing thats going on in the grid screen seems like it could have creative potential too. Imagine being able to jump around between different marker points in your sequence. (Or even just being able to adjust your loop lengths while the sequence runs.)

Is there a way of organizing our feature request ideas,cause the sticky at the top and threads like this have loads of cool stuff. I was thinking everyone could submit just their top 3 ideas, we could compile an mpc forums top 3 or 5 to give to JJ rather than him being inundated with a zillion requests when march comes around.

Good idea, maybe someone should compile a numbered list of feature requests and then people vote on the top 3. Everyone wins.
