Song Mode and Simult Seqs

I'm just getting started with a FleaBay MPC and have what seems to be a pretty basic question. I've tried referencing the Akai manual, the JJ manual, and the search function, but am either a) too dense to find the answers, b) the question hasn't been asked, or c) no one was so dense to have asked the question in the first place.

I'm trying to transpose beat and sample from multiple songs, currently in FL, to an MPC. Having SS helps, as one loop may be beat only, and another adds a common sample to that beat. So if I have one common sample heard through a few beats, I can program that sample as a SEQ, then add it as a SS to the "naked" loops.

The problem is this: I need to use SONG MODE to weave the loops into a full track; however, when programing a step, only the main SEQ is played. In order for me to properly program in SONG MODE, it seems I need each and every loop as an individual SEQ, thus negating the usefulness of SS. Is this correct?

ok, so here is what you want to do, and your problem is totally understandable coming from someone new to the mpc.

ok so the mpc with JJ OS1, can have 99 simultaneous programs at once. and you can have a different program on each different track. so there is no need to do Simult Sequence for what you want to do. Just have one track with one program, be your "beat" and then one track with a different program with your sample loop on it. Then you can have multiple sequences so you can arrange in song mode.

As an example, I've got one beat and need it looped four times, both with and without a sample. So I'd have the following sequences:

SEQ1: Beat ABC
SEQ2: Beat ABC with Sample A

Then in SONG MODE, I'd program STEP1 with SEQ1 looped twice, STEP2 with SEQ2, and STEP3 with SEQ1. This gives me four measures, three with beat only, and one with beat and sample.

I guess my question then becomes, is this the best (or only) way to do it, and, if I understand what you're saying, the answer is yes...

yes that works, and really it is all personal preference which you like best. but you can also just do a four measure sequence and then sequence your changes. this is the way i do it, it consolidates number of sequences used and it makes it easier for playback when you are making the actual sequence.
