Help, digital recording

Hi,
I read the manual already, i follow all the steps (I think)
I'm trying to sample from my laptop to my mpc trough digital input, I always cut the samples on my laptop and then I copy and paste on a folder in my mpc but now I wanna try this way, I connect the laptop using a Y cable stereo to RCA, could be that my error? what kind of cable I need to use to do that?

why not using usb to transfer? if you absolutely want to record, use a SPDIF coaxial cable.

I was using usb to transfer but I was thinking to do that I need to cut the wav file on the laptop then transfer to the mpc and then chop the sample, so I'm waisting time I think, If I could record directly from my laptop trough digital recording I can cut the sample on the mpc just 1 time...

The reason it aint working is because of the rca sockets on the back of the mpc: one is an input and the other is an output. Also, and i'm not fully sure of this but pretty sure, your normal headphone jack thats coming from your computer isn't a digital output, it's just the normal analogue audio output (what i'm not sure of is whether you can use the headphone out as a digital aswell, but sounds like in your case you can't).
You could get 2 rca to trs adapters, and then just use your Y cable to run your comp straight into the left and right analogue record ins at the back of your mpc. But if your set on using the digital input, you would have to get a mixer or something with a left and right rca input, and a digital rca input and output (i do this using a dj style technics SH-MZ1200 mixer, for example).
You may possibly be able to get it going digital straight from your comp to the mpc SOME how, but I think in your case it is the problem of trying to run 2 analogue outputs from a single headphone jack into the digital in and out: this won't work. Your best bet in my opinion is to just get 2 rca to trs jacks and slap em on the rca's on your Y cable and record in that way.
