installing this as beginner

i just received my akai MPC 1000bk in my mail and i havn't learned how to use it yet. i been playing around for about 2 hours now with the official OS but should i just go ahead and install the JJOS1/2 and start learning that instead?

btw kudos to all hardware cats, i dunno maybe kuz i been using software to produce but
its freakin hard to learn lol. i need to some practice.

I skipped straight to it. I'd suggest to do the same. I never even booted up on the Original OS.

Word, just skip the AKAI OS. I did that straight away, when I got my MPC 1k. Went straight to JJ-OS 3.0x.

Yes, do it. So much more possible with JJ OS. Although the learning curve can be a bit harder if you've never worked with hardware because the JJ OS 'manual' is not very clear.

Use the official Akai v2 manual and explore the extra possibilities deciphering JJ's manual. (Remember his English is still a lot better than your Japanese. )

I just got JJOS latest version last week but it has been super helpful to me. I had been dealing with the standard Akai OS for 1.5 years now and never really got into it as far as ease and creativity... but since this last week it's brough about alot more stuff I am pretty happy with. Keep in mind i have installed my own hard drive in the mpc and do alot of live recording and chopping... so the JJOS chop and sample handling is amazing. something about the factory OS was just a pain and that took a lot out of me, it's hard to feel the beat when your getting pissed at a drum machine

couple days ago when i first got this played with the official OS and chopping was a pain. the JJOS chopping is soooo simple. i gotta admit i prefer soundforge its much quicker but jjos and mpc is still very fun to use. and then BAM! pgm to assign them to pads..lovin it
