2000XL Compatibility?

OK, next question. I've been on an XL for ever and looking at the JJ OS the 1000 looks like it is hurting the 2000XL. Yeah, I know, I'm late as usual. But I'm wondering exactly what parameters will and will not transfer from the XL to the JJ 1000. I'm thinking about switching it up but I don't want to have to rework my XL progarms because XYZ won't transfer. Who of you switched and how smoothe was your transition? thanks

i switched from 2kxl to jj 1000 some years ago and it kinda was a pain in the ass. some sequence parameters changed, so when you recorded attack values on the xl you now have changes in the the samples tune and so on. if you switch back to attack it changes to a different value, so you gotta change everything step by step.
but it remembers the basic stuff in the pgm-files, though...

i didn't take very much with me from the xl because getting it from a scsi zip to a computer was pretty much impossible.
so all in all it was a hard time. but once you rebuild the important stuff and plugged the 1000s harddrive to the computer, drag-and-dropping samples and working with all the incredible new features the xl feels like an dinosaur from a long gone past.

ive done countless a/b comparisons, the XL still sounds alot fuller, tighter and the swing sounds heaps doper.

I also made the same upgrade. i decided to leave all my XL work as is. And start fresh on the 1000.

yeah man, just forget basically about opening up your xl stuff on a 1000...just keep the old xl around for when you wanna open your old stuff....

your gonna miss the nice smpte sync, and the midi multi-timbrality (4 programs), of the xl....but makin beats on the 1000 is just so much FUNNER since os2 ...

dude u can have 99 pgm;'s loaded in the 1000, and sequence any multi timbral modules over its 32 midi channels.

4 times the RAM, and sh|t load quicker load/save times. will see you spending more time making beats and not waiting for stuff to process.

try accessing the mpc1000 externally to use it as a multi-timbral machine, ie , using those 99 programs from [external] midi....you get only one with mpc1000. you get 4 with 2000xl....

hey, i love my 1000..!! just wish we could have at least 16 channels accessing 16 programs from the outside [midi] world...

dude get a rack sampler, why comlain about something the mpc was never designed for.

but since this was a question about 2kxl ( which had 4 part multitimbrality "DESIGNED" into it ) , which i owned for 7 years before i got a 1000 , it seemed appropriate , as there is really no excuse for the lack of midi accessability to the 1000's internal programs..

and pardon me for wanting to do something with my mpc that "it wasnt designed for" LoL what a jackass..

im sure it could easily be implemented in the JJ os. why not make a request.
