patch phrase is buggin out

Any time i try patch phrase something it distorts the sample badly.
If i was to try describe the sound i'd say It sounds like its a rumbling bass sound that you would hear coming from a club somewhe in the distance. You can still make out the original sample "just" but its all messed up.

I dont believe i have any effects added or that there defaulting to a preset effect etc. What could it be ?
