What more could be added?

LOAD/SAVE
28. Live audition of samples while sequencer runs.

SEQ EDIT
26. Track split function. (EXPLODE) Each recorded pad is re-assigned to a seperate track.(e.g. for editing drums on individual tracks).

SONG MODE
62. Song mode: Control of seq loop regions.e.g.1. seq1 loop bars 3-4 repeat 2 times.followed b seq1 bars 1-2 repeat 2times.

TIMING CORRECT/NOTE REPEAT
40. Quantize strength.e.g. 100%=exact quantize 0%=no quantize, 50%=some quantize, but not all the way to the nearest snap value.

These are the features that I've always wished JJ would give us, specially the "quanitize strength" and "live audition of samples while sequencer runs". If JJ is indeed coming to an end with updates for OS2, do any of you think the features we all still want might be enough to make JJ come up with an OS3? I hope not, I'd like for JJ to just give us a few more "key" features, correct any last bugs that may still be hanging around and call it a day. I think the more JJ gives us the more we'll want, eventually we'll be waiting for an update that makes it possible to check email, get maps/directions and that gives us the ability to take pictures. Could you imagine holding up your 1000, "Say Cheese"... But seriously, just a few more main features and I'd be totally satisfied with my 1k, JJ has already given our 1000's one hell of an upgrade.

those aren't all my ideas! they are suggestions from everyone on this forum. me and one other forum member (i forget exactly who it was now) were trying to pull all the OS 2 relevant feature requests from the feature request thread months ago. The other guy did most of the work by pulling them all out into one big numbered list and what i was trying to do was organize it by removing duplicate/similar suggestions and group things by mode or screen. i never finished this task but when someone asked "what more could be added?" i couldn't resist bombing the thread with this huge list.

but yeah, there is a TON of things that can be added to OS 2 and there is still A LOT of codespace left. i think we'll be seeing updates to OS 2 probably for another year.

things seem to have been slowing down but i think it's because JJ probably has some other priorities these days. we know for a fact that OS 2 sold less than expected and he wasn't making as much money as he anticipated from it. i think he realized that he wasn't going to be able to support himself just from coding OS 2 anymore and so he probably had to look for another steady paying gig. so maybe OS 2 is just something he works on in his spare time now.

i have no hard facts to back this up, it's just a feeling based on what has been occurring recently.

Sooty,

Of the many requests that re on your list, how many could actually get in with enough space? How could there be more code left when the OS will only be able to stuff 1.2MB of info? Your not going to get much unless you load different OS's for which ever option you like.

oh, you definitely can't fit ALL of those requests into what space is left in the code. that's why we were trying to make this list: to prioritize the most important/desired requests and send them to JJ.

but it all depends on what is added. for example if you wanted to add a new effect like a vocoder or distortion or something, that would eat up a ton of code. but little interface/workflow improvements or some offline processes (like the EXPLODE sequence feature or QUANTIZE strength) would take up relatively little space.

I'd love to set independent looping per track...(e.g. Track1-2bars, track2-8bars,track3-4bars, mainloop -8bars)

And i think, that would be easy to realize...?!

Peace

i'll like see this:
53. Sliced samples/patch phrase to MIDI seq data (similar to reason rex files).and to pad pattern(if the pad parameter is included in future pad pattern developments).

A couple of features from the 2000xl:

1. Naming of midi devices so instead of for example 1A - Moog/Virus/whatever
2. Erase off tracks, makes creating variations 1000 times faster.
3. Step edit on soft key from main screen

yeh i miss the delete off tracks function.
