grove templates...

how do you load up grove templates? I know there is a way to chop a grove in recycle and export as akp then convert it to pgm, but that just creates a program, and not a grove template... how do i keep the original grove? I'm also on a Mac, what are some programs that will convert akp to pgm? thanx!

there's no note timing imported in CHOP, only the separate samples.
you've got to sequence it the way it plays in the sample - play it with your fingertips, note off, adjust tempo and loop points to make it smooth.

I had to ask, because technology nowadays makes everything TOO easy, and if what I'm thinking is true, I'm packin' up this music schyt for real!
The Yamaha S4000/5000's have this feature. You keep hitting a button for the machine to automatically rearrange samples, but a groove template to create a rhythm that someone else pre-programmed is absolute horribleness at the worst degree.

i kind of agree, when it comes to Acid Pro style "loading preset groove templates"
but building your own and allowing that to bend/warp your TC settings is a good bet
personally i think quantize strength is just a step up from groove templates. for the performer, anyway.

This production game schyt is over saturated!
I think it's ok for anyone to make beats, but folks shouldn't call themselves a producer if they don't know how to really produce anything. I've seen messages on here with people asking for a Hi-Hat loop set to a 1/16. I've heard beat's that basically were loops from a guitar center DVD. I've witnessed beat battles where the "producers" used 8+ second samples in their beats (basically played the original songs).
I just wish the consumers knew the difference. I'm tired of niggums hyping up their beats as being "Heat" or "that fire!"

i say bring on the wack beats. if they're not elevating their game then their game isn't going to elevate them (take them anywhere).

Adjustable quantize strength would be a cool feature. Does this seem like a feasible addition? Or would the MPC2500 have to have a higher PPQN resolution in order for it to be implemented?

You can adjust quantize manually on the MPC's by changing the settings while recording. I don't use quantize tho so I don't know anything else regarding it.

Yeah I was actually referring more the quantize strength not quantize settings.

Kind of like the function that the MV has or what some computer sequencers have. Basically like adjusting the magnetic pull of the notes to the quantize grid to help loosen up or tighten up the timing by miniscule amounts.

I think I remember hearing something like this on the 1000/2500, but I'm not sure. Nym would probably know more about this tho..
