Assigning multiple smaples to one pad.

I only have an early version of JJOS1, so hopefully this has changed. When I assign more than one sample to a pad, if I then try to decay or filter only one of the samples, it does the same effect to ALL the samples on that pad. I had the 2000xl before this and it was never an issue on there. Before I download a later version of JJ, can someone let me know if this has been corrected, or if there is a way around this. Thankyou.

on the 1000/2500, envelopes are per pad, not per layer.

i treat pad banks as layers. A13=kick drum, B13=kick drum layer.

I just updated to JJOS1 5.55 and still the same problem. Just to be clear, if I assign say two different kick drums to the same pad in the program field, and then wish to just filter one of the kicks and maybe decay the end of one of them a little. When I apply that to one of the sounds it applies the same filter and decay to both kicks when you hit the pad, not just the one kick in isolation. Any help would be really appreciated, on the 2000xl you could treat each sound seperately but still apply them to one pad.

Thanks Nym, I treat pad banks as layers too, but how do you assign 2 pads onto 1 pad to play both at the same time, while also keeping the effects seperate? The only way I know is in programme mode by assigning 2 sounds to a pad, not assigning 2 pads to play at the same time as on the 2000.

BX, i kinda already told you in my first post -- all filters, FX and envelopes are per PAD, not per pad LAYER. you can adjust individual levels, but not filters, fx, or envelopes.

in order to do this you need to use SIMULT PAD to chain 2 pads together. that way you can keep 1 sample on 1 pad but still have 2 play at the same time. pad A01 simulted to B01 - when you hit A01, both will play at the same time with separate filters, fx, velocity settings and envelopes as you determine them.

Thanks. I did look for a "Simult Pad" function in the manual and on the topics on this board after your first post but couldn't find it. Can you please explain how to access/activate it then I'm good to go.

That explanation on the link you gave seems to be saying that it will play the pads simultaniously in playback, but will not record them all together though. I'll have a play with it....thanks again for your help anyway, it's important to me because it's something I use a lot.

you'll see. it triggers them all at the same time - just like 4 layered sounds on 1 pad doesn't RECORD them all at the same time, it just records the PAD which plays all 4 sounnds

likewise with simulted pads
you record the simulted pad, and the rest of the pads are TRIGGERED whenever that original pad is hit/played in the sequence

i know exactly what you're trying to do because i couldn't live without it, editing the individual samples w/ different envelopes is essential for drum layering. SIMULT is exactly what you are looking for.

A little bug-bear of mine is that:
Say you have a snare on A01 that you simult with a snare on B01, then you change the amp envelope of B01 and hit A01 to hear the effect.. Then you have to remember to hit pad B01 again in order to change it's filter/amp, etc before you then have to hit A01 to hear it. Probs just me, but I always forget to hit my simulted pad and end up changing the parameters for the wrong pad, and this is a simple example only involving 1 simulted pad
I know the best way to do this is to have your sequence running... but like I said, it's just a tiny, tiny bug-bear
