MIDI interface syncronization accuracy

yo i noticed that using midi clock the sync is never the same...i noticed variables of around 50ms or more sometimes when recording the same thing twice and looking on DAW..is it my shite interface (edirol pcr30) or a tolerance of beat clock?

Use MTC. MIDI clock is sh*t for syncing a DAW to the MPC, and really isn't meant to be used that way.

no one seems to be able to get mtc going on these mpc/jj combo's, i for one cant, i set up all as for beat clock, yet beat clocks the only working solution.

any advice would help - or a description of your working setup.

i got reaper slaved to my MPC jjos2xl via MTC sync, same settings as jjos2

what about mpc slaved to daw?

i've never had a reason to do that

yeah the sync is better with mtc, but the startup is glitchy still...so adding the beginning empty bar is necessary..and you gotta be specific about the tempo in the mpc...midi clock is sooo ez ..

the startup time of MTC is always like that, always gonna be that necessary extra bar. midi clock is easier, but the timing is considerably worse.

if you're just doing chords etc, midi clock is fine cuz timing is a little less necessary but i'd never sequence drums and have them linked via midi clock.

this is why i avoid having 2 sequencers run at the same time unless i'm tracking out, and that's only to dump everything from 1 to another. it's just too much work/trouble to have 2 run at the same time while composing.
