is the JJ OS 2 still worth getting if...

The bugs that I've seen in OS2xl are very minor. Just like all the previous versions, it will always continue to have some bugs pop up here and there when others are fixed. But at this point, I believe OS2xl is stable enough to consider buying. I bought my password on Friday and I have no regrets. At $15, I'm not sure if the price will increase in the future. So I didn't want to wait too long incase that happens.
Take the plunge and have fun with it. If it's giving you problems in any way that prevent you from getting your work down, just report any bugs you find. JJ is working as much as possible. But it really takes as many of us as possible to help improve the OS.

It's not so much about what something does as much as how it does it.
One of the reasons ,many 60/3k users never liked the 2k/2kxl was fewer dedicated buttons being replaced by the open window function.

JJ has greatly reduced the open window function for the 1k/2500 and made what open window functions he uses have a more logical flow.

Roland made the mc909 and mc808 and some how they felt the mc808 was an improvement.

i agree about the 808. i never did understand how they thought that was an improvement. it forced you to use a pc if you wanted a screen. thats not really why the mc series was designed. it was a techno house unit. with the 808 it forces you to use your computer to use it. i do think that the jjos has greatly improved the use of the original unit. but the 3 versions are def different from one another. which leads to alot of diference of opinion as to the better of the 3. i personally only use os1. i have os2 but never use it. 1 meets all the needs i have in a sequencer for the mpc. if it were for my mc-909 i would probably go with xl because it matches the os closer over there. but i use my 909 standalone. so the extra features are necessary.

im looking over the manual. im still deciding if it will be worth dropping 49.00$ for it. I think ill decide later on, but the OS 2 looks good..

Curious what you attracted to in OS2 compared to XL?

I don't feel any of the JJ manuals are a good way to get the vibe of a OS, I think that's the real reason it's best to install an OS check it out then pay for it if you like it.

but if its also sound design with shaping of samples etc and hands on creative sculpting, i would hint at the OS2. personally.

i dont know. i already downloaded both the OS 2 and OS XL and once i get home, i will try them out and make my choice.

and i guess i decided the OS2 over the XL because its more bug free.

i might of got a 3000 4 $$ 500 canadian, dependin on this girl's dad.... ( hopin like crazy )

nope, each password is specific for each code created for each machine ID.

why not just... sequence everything out to pro tools or something. and never ever buy a password, just sequecne everything out...


that would be a pain to do. hahaha.
