With all the discussions going on concerning QLINK, MIX AUTOMATION and SIMULT,
don't you think the best way for JJ would be to restore these features/behaviours back
into XL. I myself come to the conclusion, that JJ will do his best to make XL as complete
as possible for most users - not at least for financial reasons.

I think if there will be features missing that have been included before, it's definately due to
shortness of memory amount or other kind of limitations that only JJ knows about.

Otherwise, I'm optimistic that the development will continue. Currently, besides QLINK behaviour,
I'm satisfied with the feature set of XL. Now, it's time for heavy debugging.

Several times we had to wait longer for an update, JJ came up with some surprises.

Just being optimistic.

Nevertheless, it's all about music, so you may want to listen to this guy:

Very musical stuff, entirely done on the MPC2500, simply fantastic.

i'm down with it. there's nothing i'd love more than to see the power of the Q-LINKs restored to OS 2XL.

i could even live without the MIX AUTOMATION in a pinch and SIMULT is something i never use, but the Q-LINKS are essential to me. i'd love it if JJ was trying to get this working in 2XL. if he did i'd switch over for sure.

...but i asked the man TWICE point blank if there was any chance for this and he said NO, so there you go.

i've really been concentrating on the QLINK's in os 2 since XL dropped, really exploring them and the simultaneous REALTIME / NOTE-ON combination, putting each sound on it's own track and shaping the sound of each track as it plays back. rehearse as the sequence loops a few times and then when it starts to sound good: just hit OVERDUB and tweak the sliders - done. you can get a subtle shift or really warp the sound so it's unrecognizable.

i've been trying to convince myself that i really don't need this... booting into 2XL every once in a while and trying to get things going in there. but i've ended up loving the os 2 Q-LINK capabilities even more. just can't give that up!

...oh and also LOOP EDIT mode in os 2. can't forget that. it's really great once you get into it!

if JJ could bring this stuff to 2XL it would be amazing, tho.

Sooty when you say Loop Edit mode do you mean where it repeats the one bar at a time, and you can adjust the velo/shift/pitch of 16 steps?

yep. you can also adjust duration and chop and the position of the note. it's great for nudging notes around if you want to correct small timing problems or for creating new grooves - either from scratch or based on what you've already recorded in the sequence.

i don't know why JJ pulled it out of 2xl. i was hoping it would get expanded to be able to control ALL note on events: sample start, attack, decay, etc.

Bro that's still in 2XL! The main difference is they pulled out the pitch row, for some reason. It was also renamed to VIEW. It's a hot feature with the shifting, no doubt...
