Forum to discuss all matters relating to the MPC1000 and MPC2500 operating systems created by 'JJ' (all versions).

Hello
I'm new to the boards but I have been a user of the MPC for many years and I just wanted to add my ywo cents , about JJ's products in general.

First the JJ Sequencer:I took the liberty to tinker around with it and I must tell you this program will be the end all be all for MPC users and PC users, if he continues to improve it based on user input.

What I like best about it is, it seems to be designed for sequencing and data archivel. Lets be honest about the best features about the MPC. One is the ability to get midi notes (keyboard improvisions) recorded quickly and second its hands on access to the worlds best drum machine.

Now lets look at the the worst feature of the MPC; the inability to arrange quickly. To be honest this is by far the worst feature also on most PC programs.

The problem with sequencing is all programs overlook a simple principle in music called " The _ _ _ _". I left the word out so JJ can be the first sequencer to incorporate that word/feature, in a future release of the JJ Sequencer. If he adds that feature I gaurantee all programs will copy even fl Studios.

Don't look at the JJ Sequencer as a replacement of our MPC, but as an add on that will qive us MPC users the best of both worlds.

For Example: You can use the MPC for getting rough music ideas together, then use the JJ sequencer to arrange the track faster or to just archive the beat with all the sounds on the PC's hard drive,f or later use. This guy JJ is a Genius for understanding the MPC's screen and purpose has its limits.

Second The 4x4 Sequencer: I saw this as a request on the Forum several times and I think its a great limited idea. The 4x4 set up can be done without JJ.All you have to do (I've done it for years) is set the same sound in the correct position on tracks 1-16(bank A) ,then another sound on Tracks 17-32(bank B) and so on...Then use the "track mute window" to turn that note on and off to create a sound pattern.

The problem comes in when you have to save - thats when JJ comes in- if he can program the MPC to MERGE multiple tracks on one track at once the 4X4 Sequencer will be usefull. I will admit it is fun, using the track window mute to remove a snare here and a Bass Kick there.

So please dont be stuck on stupid when it comes to the JJ Sequence,a nd please open your minds to the future in MPC arrangements.

So when the JJ Sequencer is available for sale I'm the first one in line.

P.S. Yea the JJ sequencer needs a undocking feature, but its still the beta.

What is this, viral marketing? Fanaticism?

" The _ _ _ _". ?

For archival, simply save everything to new folder and backup onto another drive.
For arranging, if I wanted to use a mouse I'd use one of the other hundreds of apps already available.

If the MPC JJ OS cannot do something easily and efficiently, they should work on programming ways for it to do so... in the MPC.

It is much easier to code for Windows. JJ got lazy. I can see it already:

"Can you add X feature?"

"No it cannot do. Open project in JJ-Sequencer and do there."

yeah i gotta say, that was a pretty gay post dude. here's a tip, when you are trying to push a product without openly saying you are affiliated, you need to do your best to make it NOT completely obvious. but either way, humor me, what is this guy gonna do for all the mac users? because when it comes to music, there's a lot of them. also, what is this program capable of doing that the other dozen can't do?

here's an idea for this guy to make some money, how about taking the time to actually make a REAL website with a REAL domain name, then maybe doing some marketing? god forbid he has to spend 10 bucks on a real domain name and hire someone to make a real site, with understandable documentation.

bottom line is, sequencing apps that don't look like they were made in 1993 already exist, but useful MPC OS's don't.

I never got paid a doller in my life time to tell the truth and say nice things about good products. Unless you consider getting a good quality product ;as the end result ;for my due diligence; then we are all culprits of viral marketing.

We all want a better product and thats why we are here in the MPC forum.

As for questioning my 3 posts to fanaticism, you should look at your 300+ posts and think to yourself, there could be other ways the kettel can call the tea pot black.

Jamon wrote: " The _ _ _ _". ?

Thats telling you it's a four letter word.

Jamon wrote:For archival, simply save everything to new folder and backup onto another drive.

The Maximum space is somewhat limited to 4 - 8 gigs on compact flash and certain hard drives.Compare this to the tetra hard drive that of a PC and you may see the benifits of PC back up. For example, all information is place in one place, instead of accross multiple Flash cards.

Jamon wrote:For arranging, if I wanted to use a mouse I'd use one of the other hundreds of apps already available.

Yea but none of those apps tries to work seamlessly or alongside with the MPC

Jamon wrote:If the MPC JJ OS cannot do something easily and efficiently, they should work on programming ways for it to do so... in the MPC.

Good features were passed over because of the limitations of the MPC's memory dedicated to run the software.
Jamon wrote:It is much easier to code for Windows. JJ got lazy. I can see it already:]
The JJ Sequencer was delayed from the end of september to the end of October because you think coding is easier in a different format and he's lazy.I think not.[/quote]

Can you please clarifiy

P.S. I joined this forum because I wanted to be apart of what you all started.

The only thing thats is obvious is you're a Hater. You call my 3rd post gay when I'm saying good things about someone who is trying to satisfy the needs of this forums users.

Your Conspiriacy theory is wrong, my sole purpose is to reinforce what people started.

When it's big enough I feel JJ will make it happen.

Again, another hateful statement, everyone knows its a low budget, two to three man operation, so why whould you try to put him on blast.

The JJ sequencer is a useful MPC OS it's much broader that you think. Also if you look at the first version of FL studio's, you will see it was very basic. The same goes for Reaper.

Give JJ the benift of the doubt.

The whole point of the MPC is that it's dedicated hardware. That's the only reason why I put up with its shortcomings. If you have to bring a PC into it then you might as well give up on the MPC and use a dedicated PC tool, because it suggests you don't understand the advantages the MPC has and a MIDI controller will do just as well for you.

Anyone can program music software for a PC. They may have to learn a few things, but we all have access to the necessary pieces. We do not have access to what it takes to program MPC firmware. Only JJ and Akai. That means, JJ Sequencer could be built by any of the millions of people with PCs and free time, but instead JJ does it.

If JJ is doing what everyone else can do, then no one does what only JJ can do. That leaves Akai as the only one with access to the MPC OS, and they are moving to PC stuff too. That is why it is a waste of scarce resources for JJ to direct energy into PC software. Anyone can do that, and we don't want to use the PC, only the MPC.

Since JJ is neglecting his special power no one else shares, the code and instruction on how to program the MPC should be made public. Then JJ can build PC software, or paint pictures, or any of the other things anyone can do, and we can get access to what he and Akai could only do. That is fine. But if JJ hoards the power, JJ should use it.

Coding a Windows program is not using it.

There's no use writing when you don't understand what you're writing. It wastes all our time. Windows software is not a MPC Operating System, and cannot be.

listen, when it comes to web design, this is a pretty awful excuse. i mean for a domain name, you're telling me he can't spend $10 and point it to his existing page? and for a website, a skilled coder can't figure out how to make a basic website that doesn't look like it's from 1993? even if you hired someone from india, you could get a single page website like has, better yet, a template he could edit himself, for $100, IF THAT. that means, he sells JJOS 1 and 2 to 1 person, and he's got himself a website. really poor argument here. and by the way, if you think constructive criticism is hateful, then you are a giant pussy/douchebag.

if you really are doing all this for free, you should probably rethink your priorities if you have enough time to be worry about someone else's business

I never expect anyone to understand the actions of a genious before their time.If you dont understand my sentance because of a technicality of someone chopping it in half, is very understandable.

So if you repair my sentance, I think you will have the capabilities to understand. But, if you don't please quote my sentance in its entirety, and then I will elaborate.

Is the reason why you registered solely to make all these grandiose claims, using broken English, because you are JJ?

There's only so many possibilities. Either you are affiliated with JJ, a liar pulling a prank, or a crazy fanatic.

There's nothing genius about JJ OS. All hardware companies pay people to develop firmware. The Akai situation resulted in the programmers being broken away from the company prematurely, and rogue development continued.

In some ways you can say JJ is an unethical bandit, taking advantage of a unique situation, double-dipping in the Akai customer base. Since JJ used to be Akai, it's like we buy Akai hardware, then pay Akai again for closed-source firmware.

JJ OS is better than Akai OS, but that's not saying much. I'm sure everyone who likes JJ OS can think of at least 10 ways to improve it. There's nothing unique to it, all the functionality is standard, and can be found in any of the old sequencers.

Look at hardware workstations, Atari/DOS software, and then tell me why JJ OS is so special.

Constructive criticism is defined as building upon the foundation of an idea,so the end result is appeling to everyone. What you are doing is playing off-the-topic Devil's Advocate, and everyone knows the devil is the biggest hater of them all.

JJ also speaks English as a secondary language, and you have the nerve to talk about his attempt to explain instructions in his secondary language. Look at the Barbaric writings( starting a sentance with lowercase letters and the word "and") you just produced, when english is your standard language.

Real talk, you're a hater, because I gave you a heads up and you continue to do it. On top of that you're talking about his money situation. To me it seems like you have more of a problem of him making money. Hmm, is that the reason why you're talking bad about the JJ Sequencer, so JJ makes no money.

You have spoken like a true hater.

P.S. Anything that enters my mind is my business, and I choose to mind my JJ Sequencer business today.

so you're in japan right?

when i mention the fact that he has poor directions that aren't easy to understand, that's because he doesn't bother taking the time to hire someone to re-write it. again, this wouldn't cost much. when i mention the fact that he should focus more on creating something more official looking, that also has to do with the fact that it seems like he's having issues making money from JJ OS. you have to spend money to make money. being cheap about a business is the last thing you need to do for success.

in reality, you're more of a hater since you're trying to justify something that nobody else here agrees with. not only that, but you're really calling me that without basis, since the advice i'm giving is valid. i'm trying to help, if i wanted to be a real hater i would keep my mouth shut and not offer advice. i do web design for a living, and more specifically, web design for products. in other words, i understand the importance of presentation when it comes to selling something on the internet.

Constructive criticism is defined as building upon the foundation of an idea,so the end result is appeling to everyone. What you are doing is playing off-the-topic Devil's Advocate, and everyone knows the devil is the biggest hater of them all.

my idea, considering it supports the idea of focusing on JJ OS, aka, something that doesn't already exist, is clearly supported by everyone else here. so with that said, it sounds like it's constructive criticism based on your definition.

not really sure how you are noticing anything to do with me not wanting him to make money, considering i'm giving advice on how to make MORE money, but ok. JJ should pick a better representative
