What up Fam,

I have question folks. Been using a FireWire 410 with my MPC 1000 for short time. Before using a s/pidf cable I had horrible RF interference with just the analogue 1/4 inch outputs. After I connected the s/pdif cable and synced it with MPC 1000, the was no more audio interference. In my mind it suggest that the s/dif makes the MPC send out digital data instead of analogue. I could be wrong though.

I noticed that in the Firewire 410 mixer window (on the computer) the s/pidf had showed a signal but I could not hear it alone. I could only hear if the 1/4 inch jacks were connected. The signals were identical in terms of peaks. I've never had any other problems with my 410, but something rattles inside. I'm not sure if it affects anything.

So I ask my fellow comrades: is s/pidf a clock as I understand, a signal or both? Am operating on incorrect information?

Reason being is that I want to buy a FireWire 1814 to increase work flow productivity by increasing my track bouncing count. I want to know if all 4 MPC outputs will be clean and digitized through similar use of what I have been doing with the FW410.

Please in enlightenment me. Also, I know the FW1814 may not be the best interface comparable to other but
there are smoking deals on Craigslist for them.

Thanks in advance.

SPDIF mirrors your main outs audio.

Main out is 2ch analog, SPDIF is 2ch digital.

The SPDIF outs on your mpc is a digital audio signal.

Disappointing but thanks. The ADAT and its 8 track bounce capability was the only reason I almost kept my MPC 5000, but the JJ OS made me feel like a sucker, so I let it go. That's OK. Gonna learn how to trigger GURU with a MPC by slaving Abelton Live. GURU's interface is much easier to layer drums too.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Thanks for the info Lampdog

I was disapointed because it seems as if u can't do a multiple 4 track digital bounce since it only s/ mirrors the main outs. My rf interferance was so horrible I'm scared to buy a mult-input audio intereface that relys on 1/4 jacks. I admit I am ignorant to these processes. I would really like to assign my 4 tracks out and ease my work flow. I'm a noob if you can't tell already. I'm on my shit. Learned the internal fundamental of the 1000 over a weekend. I'll take any suggestions. How do y'all bounce more than the main out with out it sounding like audio destruction?

6 out trick discussed in previous threads.
Use the 4 out and then also use the main outs panned hard left and hard right to achieve 2 more channels.

Does that sound like something you can try? You can.

ADAT is not a function of the 1000/2500, maybe you should have looked into that more before you let go of the 5000.

Look into stuff beforehand next time and you will feel better about your purchases/coppage (not even a word I know).

There's alot that could play into that destruction and without you being specific I can't help.

What all this vindictiveness for. I haven't riddled this forum with stupid questions like: how do you save or how do you separate tracks? Yall going hard. For what?

Lampdog. I was very aware of the which MPC has ADAT. I've recorded many songs on them back in the day. And trust, I copped the MPC 5000 for so low, I made money on the sale, even at a $1100 price point. Just wanted to try it out since I got a a once in a life time price on it. Not gonna get into how its a jip compared to the 2500/1000 IMO. I bought the 5000 and a 1000 at the same time. Saw the 1000 with JJ OS had a way higher price to value ratio, and its portable so I rolled with it. I knew I was giving up and optical 8 track bounce features and more. I just ran across and unexpected problems with this interference. Give me a break man.

I just trying to develop a productive work flow. Being forced to only bounce two tracks at a time ain't the spirit when you have 4 assignable outs but its doable. Everything else was accounted for except the RF interference. I been lurking on this forum for a minute and have been doing my due diligence to the best of my ability. I ain't a dude that just went out bought a machine and is asking yall to hold my hand through this.

As far as my setup, I have to two work areas. One at home, which is very confined and is intended make sketches on my laptop. I also have a pre-production studio that was previously all digital (Reason, DAWs and vst's) with way more space. I wanna get inspired at home and fill in the sketches at the studio.

I suspect the distortion, and interference may have to do with my equipment being in such a confined area. Maybe the speakers and wires are creating electromagnetic field issues. That makes the 6 out trick unavailable for me. On every channel, stereo or assigned, the drums sound liked they've been bit crushed, and run through a distortion unit. They sound perfect through s/pdif though.

I was hoping to bounce my beat sketches (VST's included) into a audio waves folder from Logic Pro 9, and then drag it into Ableton Live 8 at the studio and fill it in because it has more resources. I got options though. I'll keep others posted if I find a solution or what the underlying problem is.

Is that how we roll? Put quotes around something I never said and try to clown. That's weak. I was hoping s/dif was some sort of clock or something because In the FW410 mixer, I wasn't able to hear the s/dif signal without hooking up the 1/4 jack. I don't know why that is but its only way i got sound from s/pdif. THATS why I was confused.

Negative energy can't stop the wave though. I keeps it moving regardless.

Dude..you have 6 outs.. L, R, 1, 2, 3, 4

As I said before, you don't have to pan as you can select "L" without selecting "LR" or "1" without "12."

You can use the program mixer, where specific sounds within a program on a pad are sent to outs. On the other hand, you can use the track mixer. Whatever is on a track will be sent to the output specified.

Connect these 6 outs to 6 ins on your 1814. Arm your tracks in your DAW. Get your levels right. Sync to midi. Press record.

Done.

get it straight, I never quoted anyone.
I simply wrote that sentence, and some one else quoted it.

the only one catching any feelings is you.

make beats have fun. deal with your rf issues.

do whatever

I've never had an RF interference problem using my mpc2500 analogue outs and I have a studio full of kit, with all 8 analogue outs going into my 32 channel mixing desk and then 8 channels going into my RME Fireface 800. Wonder if the mpc1000 is much different?
I use balanced leads btw. Do you?

The S/PDIF in/out sends/recieves clock information AND audio data, digitally. Your soundcard needs to be set to lock/sync to 44.1Khz when using the s/pdif into the soundcard from the mpc or you will hear glitching.

All the other mpc outs are analogue.

Have you tried connecting your mpc analogue outputs to a different mixer to see if you have the same problem? This would take the Firewire 410 out of the loop as being the problem.

Maybe your mpc has a technical problem?

Check this out too -> http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?p=63150. Sounds like this guy is having trouble getting his 410 to lock to his mpc.

Its not that. I've synced s/pdf to the sound card at 44.1. It could be the speakers. They're super low-end m-audio studiophiles to hold me over for the moment. There very close together and the speakers have the silver and copper connectors. That's probably it. They're probably doing some antenna sh*t messing with my 1/4 inch lines. Maybe.

I ain't trying to get out of pocket or nothing but read the thread top to bottom. There's a lot of sarcasm. I don't know where its coming from either. I don't think I asked stupid questions. I'm trying to solve an RF issue before I by an 1814. I come from the digital world. Reason, Logic Pro, Pro Tools and Reaper. Everything usually works except for the occasional system overloads. With the hardware, there's a learning curve. I'm down to do my part and research before I ask questions. I used the search button. You guys have a huge knowledge base, sometimes you have to ask for help. If you teach me to fish I'll teach then next man. I'm not here to rape and pillage then the leave. When I get proficient with this things, I'll kick knowledge to the newcomers.

The thing is I came looking for help and got the business. Read this thread.

I don't know whats that about. I've always been treated with respect on other boards. What gives?

But anyway. I'll try to same set up with rokit 5s and see if I get RF issues.

Thanks
