With OS XL 3.0 being released, JJ really deserves a better website.

http://jjos.net/

Just started it, new features coming soon.

JJ really deserves a link back to his own site, acknowledging where the downloads came from ;)

what would be a lot more useful for everyone (and something I plan to do) would be helping JJ improve some of the "interesting" grammar on his website so it's easier to read and understand

having a separate site with fancy graphics and a login (?!) but no information or links back to JJ's site ... not so much

JJ is a smart dude/group... if he/they can code the MPC to do what it is capable of... he can create a web site also, I don't see the need for a new site...

Have you by chance asked him/they of his/their thoughts??

Plus, the old cats that have been here on this site for the past few years kind of like that JJ's site is the way it is. Figure things out and move on. If you can't put his puzzle together together, your missing half the fun.

uhhh you definitely should ask permission before doing this unless you make if very clear that this is a fan page. your sentiment is good but i think you might be jumping the gun here.

murai does a lot of hard work and the manual/site is easy enough to navigate as long as you got both hemispheres upstairs...your site has a lot more "Blang" though that's true

Because I'm not satisfied with their website. I don't bother using it for much, mostly because it's so confusing. Even something as simple as finding out what changed in a new version has me sitting there trying to decipher broken English.

Some of the things I want are, a simple English changelog, a complete archive of all past OS versions, statistics about how many times they've been downloaded, bug database for tracking problems in a consistent way with the ability to mark them as resolved in X version, feature requests in the bug database, questions and answers, public domain sharing of JJ OS specific instrument programs, tips and tricks to help discover gems in workflow, email notifications of new version released.

This has been on my mind for years, but the future of JJ OS was uncertain for a while when updates stopped and a Windows app was in development. Now that I see development resumed, and XL 3.00 being released, it feels like a recommitment, and the right time to start this project. I hope we can help JJ make it easier to develop, by organizing most of the other stuff ourselves, and at the same time make it easier for us to get to the important information.

I just had to get it out there, because it was time. Now it is, and development can proceed. Feel free to shout out what you want, to help influence how it grows.

Today's top priority, is a donate button, and a link to the official site. When it's up, I'll send him some money.

I feel like you have honest intentions but also feel you should get permission for a site such as this. Also
I hope you are not insulting them as I feel their site is quite clear and to the point. My opinion TYPO

A wiki might be useful. Although there's loads of good info on this forum, finding it with the search engine can be hard (and most people don't even use the search engine!) The only way to make useful threads stay easily findable is to sticky them, but too many stickies doesn't scale.

A wiki (which could have pages for each release with lists of changes, sections for tips etc.) can be kept relevant and up-to-date, removing irrelevant cruft, reorganise the info, evolving it as desired.

There could even be a section which annotates JJ's manual with clearer explanations for people who find the original translated English pages hard to read.

JJOS-wiki, now we're talking!

I don't find using their site difficult at all. Open the manual-page for the version you're rocking and go through all steps (sections) that matter for your productions. When done and comfortable, check out the rest of the features to get new ideas & inspiration. Of course it takes a bit of effort to decypher what they're saying, but combined with watching the pics and doing these things on your mpc at the same time helps a lot.

Slow your roll homey. Your intentions are in the right place, but it seems because you don't like the site that JJ put up, you HAVE to save his tail. BS. Dude might want a new site, but he's not in this for recognition or clarity for others to use. It's a site to DL an MPC software update, not a get-rich scheme. Money is nice, but he doesn't seem to have that personality. I can decipher what he is trying to relay. Sorry you don't/can't see the same. Adding a donate button does nothing to help your cause. I get it, but doesn't seem to hold weight...just doesn't seem like his personality. If you do this and with his blessing, he now has to hope your web stays up and he will have to go via you to place the file for everyone to get after you have deciphered his goal. It's a long trip when he can just upload his own site.

I know I'm being an idiot but dude is doing just fine.

Sorry to say, I'm not going to use your site.

Just my opinion.

xPEACE goes out.

As for the language on JJ's site, I know it's possible to figure out what it all means, but it could be easier,
e.g. "Even if a function except a save does not put in a password, it can be used altogether."
I think that would be easier if it said "All functions except Save can be used without entering a password"
