Samples are not saved with "save entire memory"

Hi there,

MPC 1000 with JJOS2 XL:

When I am trying to save "entire memory-2", some of my samples are not saved. I have renamed the samples and the program they are in, and I am saving the entire memory in a seperate folder.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Sometimes I think my JJos install is corrupted.

A few times after installing a new update I seemed to be getting a few errors,
then I'll re-install it again and they seem to be gone.

Have you tried re-installing the newest update?

Also are you sure your CF is good?

I had horrendous saving and lost data problems back when I first started using an MPC with a CF before I figured out that the card that came with the used MPC I bought was just worn out.

And update the free JJOS to if using JJOSXL.

You don't have to, I've never had "free os"..

Remember to hold down the erase button.

I forgot to hold down erase, but everything seems to work. Would it be best to do it anyway to be sure nothing is messed up?

It doesn't seem like you should have to.

But isn't JJOS2XL built on top of the free OS?

Why not.

You only lose the preset settings you made.

And freeJJ isn't updated so often that I would consider that too much trouble to make sure everything is updated.

Again a lot of my samples were deleted during a "save entire memory". Luckily I did a backup up a week ago.

Does anyone else have any idea why this is happening? Could my CF card be corrupt? And is there any way to check that (preferably on a Mac)?

are you creating a new folder and saving entire memory into that new folder???

when you say you renamed the files can you be more specific? that may be what's messing everything up... you may have programs trying to load samples which you later renamed.

Get a new CF.

They're cheap and you cant have too many.

If the new one works without a problem then you know your old one was bad.

I've found testing programs to usually be unreliable for telling you that a card is just worn out.

And like Crossing said,
when you save a project into its own folder its best copy the name of that folder,
delete that folder,
and then make a new folder to save into.

Individual folders dont have the same "copy over" function that the autoload folder has. (I wish they did.)
So things could get cluttered and confused if you switched a lot of stuff around.

Do you lose samples when saving to autoload?

Yes I am saving to my auto load folder actually.

Hmhmm, I must buy a new CF card and cross my fingers then. Damn, this can really be a killer. I guess I have to save my projects into new folders every time I save instead of overwriting. But that's kind of a annoying workaround...

Are you sure you got set "replace same files: YES" when saving entire memory? Default is set to "NO".

Never had this problem and i've freely saved to new and existing folders with previously saved project content.
