hello,

i am asking myself is there a option to loop samples in the program mode?
this would be nice or is this feature only available in the sequencer?
found nothing in the akai os manual or in the jj comparsionlist.
i am using free jjos

thanks in advance

hi bugfix,

i read your thread. i tryed the link and the intructions (loop on and note on). in free os in "amp mode" i turn the decay to the max. the loop is cycling/looping but with the decay the loop level shrinks.
my purpose is a "never-ending loop" which can switched off with hitting the pad twice.

Decay has nothing to do, can be even 0. It just sets the decay after note off. But I see you have set up good till now. Now as you press a pad, keep holding and press [next sequence] OR [trackmute] now let go pad. and press one of this buttons (of your choice) to back to main screen. just hold a pad and push one of those buttons.

You need OS2XL and set the sample behavior as LOOP&HOLD.

There are still limitations by the way.

& is there any other possibility for my aim or do you think the sequencer is the best solution??

Did you manage to do endless loop with a button? ah.. now I remind on free os maximum lenght of a note (any note inculuding this looping) is around 29 bars. This limit is higher on 2xl, around 170 bars. Beside it's very limited anyway.

Duration is 9999 on older OS and 65000 in newer versions.

From what I remember it's about 5/6 minutes with 65000. There must a mathematic formula with bpm and time sig somewhere.

By the way I was wondering if this limitation has an impact on live play. If the event is recorded in the sequencer it will stop after 5/6 minutes but I'm not sure for live play. The other day I left my MPC and when I came back it was still looping. I don't remember how long I was away though :)

LogaRhytmus> I forgot to ask but why do you want to use looping samples in program mode? There may be another limitation that doesn't allow what you want to do and make an upgrade useless.

Duration is just ppqn counting 96 per quarter note, it's actually around 26 (4/4) bars for older and 170 bars for newer os. I don't remember does it matters if sequencer is fired up or not. Maybe when it's not in play it plays enless. :hmmm:

at bugfix: what is and how works the endless loop with a button??

at le rat: i thought a loop which is self cycling after a trigger signal from a pad in program mode is (for me) easier to handle as a loop in the sequencer. my background is ableton a the feature of the clips. push clips looping til dawn. push another or the same twice the loop is off.
so my aim was playing loops and only using the program mode. as an example: 3 (different) drum loops, some (different) bass sounds and some other (different) leads/keys/fx. just using the 4x4 matrix with different sounds...
i would like to keep it simple.
