how can something so simple be whack or not whack?
does it do what it says?

defintely does what it says

however, the 1k was my first mpc. from the second i came here to the boards, oen of the biggest complains i ever heard was "no autochromatic, no autochromatic."

damn, i thought. that has to be a great function for everyone to be missing it so bad.

now, i get it - and i've got to say i consider it pretty useless besides using it on bass tones or something where you cannot hear the pitching algorhythm from a mile away.

i consider multisamples WAY better than one mickey moused chromatically tuned sample.

but of course i'm not gonna complain, i just do not see what the fuss is about.

when i was making samples for vienna i always made three samples of that same sound only a different pitch so sample1 will be 8 keys long sample2 will be 8 keys long and sample 3 will be 8 keys long. just so i dont have one sound be 20 keys long cause then itll sound high pitchd and retarded u know.

ya ima try out v1 here in a lil bit. the reason why i made such a huge deal about autochromatic assignments is because i bought my mpc1000 for that reason and the dealer at gc said it had it, but he lied. the idea of plugging ur midi controller (not a synth) to ur sampler and then use the keys to munipulate the pitch is a need for all samplers. the mpc1000 looked like a drum machine than a wavstation soundmodule in the end without this feature. ya there was 16levels but come on now i rather bang out my melodics with keys than pads. thats another thing 16levels was a tease and no adsr was a jaw dropper. another lie by the guitar center dude to my face lol. but im not mad i purchased an mpc1000 its a great machine. ya it was my first sampler and last sampler for now until the mpc4500 comes out :).

Will you pick up the MPC 3500 or MPC 4500? The 4500 may be the flagship...but I would give anything for an updated MPC 3000..which is still the Kang

wow i just downloaded the new os its pretty cool. but damn as i expected autochromatic assignments to be. u would have to map all keys to an effect if u wanna use it as well as remap all keys to 2 or more sounds if there a layer. i always use layers. but that sucks it be nice if there was in the copy pad window if u could assign that new sound to all the pads automatically or a selected few and auto chromatically.

double post here but ya 16levels has an advantage over auto chromatic assignments. in 16levels u only oneed one pad selected and it can be a layer of sounds all assigned to there effects in mpc but in auto chromatic assignments it doesnt use a pad instead it uses only one sound and then lays it out to keys witch is good but the above witch it doesnt have is a bummer. u would have to program all that in to all keys that u want it with effects or layers. basica, lly some brian eno shit lol

you know what

i think i spoke too soon and didn't consider all the possibilities.

you could do some serious damage w/ autochromatic and lfos...if you approach it conceptually as a synthesizer instead of a sampler.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

besides the notes being autochromatic, you can also use an external midi keyboard to trigger samples right -like the 2000?
