Awhile back someone posted some stuff about an expensive device that allows you to connect a USB drive via a compact flash adapter. I don't know if anybody ever tried one with the MPC as it was a bit cost-prohibitive.

The name of the thread was something like "EXTERNAL HARDDRIVE POSSIBLE!" or something like that... I tried a search but I get too much stuff.. there really should be a way to search for thread titles only but nooooo.....

...or pony up 140 bucks for a specialized adapter.

If somebody wants to take the chance I wouldn't mind hearing if it works w/the MPC or not...

pony up? haha

my attitude is that the internal hd is more than enough for me....one of the biggest impossible things i wish would happen is the good old USB access to on-ram samples so you could pop em open in Sound Forge and edit them/save them while your mpc is playing back a sequence. imagine - all the sudden your snare has a triangle wav layered behind it. so awesome, so unrealistic.

Yeah, just in case somebody on here has some luck "playing the ponies"...

I could see where the doohickie thing I linked above could be useful for on-the-road backups and other cases where a computer might not be desirable or available. Too bad its only USB 1.1 standard though.

Actually, that brings me to a question. I picked up the HD bracket ages ago but I still haven't installed a drive (haven't really needed to yet). Can files be easily transfered between the HD and CF drives without loading into memory first? Obviously I've never tried it...

It can actually work like that, FLAWLESSLY if mfkuz would title their threads smartly in the first place....

I've asked a million times and still new users and some old users post crazy titles, they think either.....

1. didn't give it any fore-thought for the next person trying to search.
2. didn't give a fruck in the first place.
3. didn't give a flying fruck in the first place..
4. didn't care about naming it EXACTLY what it is instead
of "URGENT, NEED HELP.."

which really doesn't tell, you the searcher, anything does it..?

You can SPECIFICALLY blame the authors of threads for that bs :x ...

I can't find any option on the search page for "thread titles only". If I could, and I didn't have the exact title to punch in, then I simply shouldn't get any results -- that is, if it was a real thread title search.

However, you are 100% right about one thing Lamp -- those thread posters are total mfkuz. All of 'em!

You just have to use keywords, title and posts will come up.

I find maybe 98% of everything I search for, but I understand what you are saying though..
