Live looping poll?

hi, bit back i posted a topic bout live looping - a few people responded positively - so i thought i'd set up a poll in the hope to find out how much of a demand there is.

the basic idea is to be able to continually live loop & overdub incoming audio such as turntables and other live instruments on the fly with out stopping.
and possibly have up to 8 mono or stereo tracks.

i'd love to be able to use this as a loop sampler. 2 people could use this machine at one time that way. 1 guy on instruments, 1 guy on the mpc. you could destroy a live show this way.

would kinda look like an international video game competion played on a gameboy micro though.

yeah, til you get good enough and maybe even get an idea of some performance tricks

there would be drumming involved, which is always fun to see done.
also the mpc sucker could have a turntable w/ scratch live with loops loaded. likewise preprogrammed drum tracks, maybe ride tracks or some knd of percussion in.

i dunno. somethign worth considering.

someone needs to invent a Playstation dancemat-to-midi converter, and then you could involve the cast of 'Stomp!'!!!

now your talkin - even twister-to-midi converter !
might go down well in the perfomance arts circle .

I'd quite like a live loop feature - would be quite cool - especially if it worked like this unit which I also own - but don't know if such a thing could be integrated into the MPC itself

The Soundbite XL is a really good/easy to use peice of gear - makes sampling phrase loops and timing a breeze - could be quite an addition to the MPC.

But since I already got one of these - maybe wishing it was integrated into the MPC is slightly daft (for me anyway)!

At the moment i loop with ableton live. But I would love to loop on my mpc too..

Live looping would be a fantastic addition, I know many people have had it on their mind while using JJ's new OS.

I think that if JJ first made the workflow smooth so that the MPC didn't need to stop (in many different screens, like trim, program, maybe even grid edit) and included live looping, the mpc 1000 would be the greatest sampler ++

i think the processor is needed when performing things like timestretching etc, so to have the sequencer not stop and do all that stuff on top is not possible imho, having said that, i'd be glad to be proved wrong!!

Maybe just a bit of streamlining then, everytime you remove one of those blasted "stop times" making music gets a bit better.

Both of these features, streamlining and live looping would make a huge difference to live performance with an mpc. Another nice addition for Live PA would be assignable outputs for the TRACKS on the main screen. Pop your headphones into mono output one, and program a sequence while the other sequence is playing. Then slap the output onto the stereo output and "mix" it in with velocity. Or maybe have a track volume control on the main screen too?

Yeah processing would be the main problem - how much is available would depend on what’s left - i'm not a programer - so only jj would know for sure. realtime timestretch would be out for sure though - as it take tons of cpu.

if were lucky there would be enough for one mono or stereo recording loop at a time, real time reverse & real-time pitch shift (not to be confused with the pitch shift on the input)

basically think of it like a truck/track that drops out of record then immediately loops - you could then continue to overdub adding to the loop.
the realtime reverse it and or drop it's pitch. (normally loopers do this an octave up or down)

i'd pay more for an addition like that.
Something like the current audio tracks, but with the ability to punch in and out of a loop on a track with a foot pedal without stoppin, and maybe the option for it to automatically create a new tracks when the sequence loops while recording. So if you record 8 bars into a 2 bar loop, it would automatically put bars 2-4 onto loop track 2, bars 4-6 onto loop track 4, 6-8 on track 4....
or it could also mix the loop onto single tracks like a delay pedal with feedback set to 100.

It would be incredible if JJ added something like this to the 1000.
