How many of you Akai MPC 2500 owners have purchased and installed the JJ OS 5 in your MPCs?

Would never go back to the akai os, that's for sure!

i'm kinda broke now (yes too broke to even afford $30), but when i get some spare change i'll cop.

Fresh MPC 2500 owner and I bought it.

20 x faster chopping!! much, muchhhhh better.

I'm not bothered about the change to Direct Record though which makes you have stop the sequence, then arm and record your audio! (or is there a way to record on the fly with JJOS 5.0.3 that I've missed?).

Also, inconsistent fonts is a usability no-no, but no biggie.

Well worth it for the much, much, much improved trim functionality

i got the 2500 in addition to the 1k, but later found out it didnt actually have an os to match that of the 1k.

ive got really into the qlink edit/ cc midi grid edit stuff on the 1k. so i was weakened to realise the 2500 hasnt got it.

also , it may never even get these functions!

i'm going to keep using the official akai OS until everything that was in the akai OS is implemented accurately in the JJ OS. After that, I'll probably try it out, though i think a lot of the features that are in the JJ OS may be overkill that i probably will never use (i was a 2000xl user, so i'm set in my ways).

i'd also like to see the contrast be controlled by shift + data wheel like it was initially on the 2500 instead of stop + data wheel like the 1000. it is still stop + data wheel, right? that's what it says on the JJ website.

Interesting to me JJ's O.S. is a lot closer to the XL than the original Akai O.S.
The original O.S. just threw away a lot of the better features of the XL.
You may think you are set in your ways but until you try the JJ O.S. you won't see what you are missing.
The sample editing is enough to make it worth it, but with things like the additional effects/filters and resampling the Simult sample trigger kills Akai's stacking samples on a Pad.
But if you are happy with the Akai O.S. then that's cool.

I kind of feel the same way but I think I'll get it because JJ updates are constant and I think that it will eventually have everything. I dont see the overkill I just see MORE OPTIONS that you can use or not use. So far it looks great. I still Like the original Direct Recording from internal CD feature. I hope he puts that back in. It was just very convenient, you know Less wires to worry about I probably would not have waited so long if that was still in it. Plus I have no issues with the current AKAI O.S but still think that JJ O.S. may be better

I think that before you say yes to the Akai you have to at least try the JJ v5, not v3 they are just too different.
All in all the JJ updates for the 2500 have been very minimal compared to the 1k.
The 2500 is really starting to feel like a replacement for the XL.
If you put larger feet on it to absorb the vibrations of the bottom panel it even feels like a better built machine.
