I think that depends on each person. Generally, it encourages you to come up with different rhythms than you would otherwise. So it expands your creative potential. Different mindset= different rhythms.
see this is what i need
i'm a grid child
before that i was a step edit toddler
previously a acid grid/reason sequencer baby
*degree of infancy determined not by tools used but by level of experience at each stage
it'd be nice to have an option for something new, especially if it would push me closer to a more quantised, electronic sound. that's something i'm missing with the grid - i can never keep from fking with swing because it is so intuitive, i just keep fking with it til i make all the notes have leaning grooves
an spxox sequencer may help because in breakdowns or when songs start, sometimes it's real catchy to load an older drum machine sounds (or make your own simple percussion) and get real quantised with it while the melody enters the next corridor
it seems like a pretty simple thing, i mean most the code looks like it was already written (time correction, stuff like record, overdub). it's just a different way of graphically viewing it
damn man
cool idea.
