Forum to discuss all matters relating to the MPC1000 and MPC2500 operating systems created by 'JJ' (all versions).

I think it would be useful to alot of people if JJ included a way to use multiple programs on the MPC while using an outside sequencer (Protools). The MPC would be like a sound module where you can have a different patch assigned to each midi channel.

This way you could have a program with your sample chopped on midi channel 1a in and then use another program for drums on channel 2a.

As it is right now you can only use 1 program at a time.

I dont know how hard this is to do, but I think it should have been a basic feature in the 2500.

you want the mpc to be multitimbral. i believe that's the word.

a while back, RIGHT before we ran out of room, we were SO close to getting "midi cc in controls qlinks" which is a step in the right direction

that + multitimbrality or w/e would reaaally knock these things socks off

yea thats exactly what i was talking about. man i would even be ok with JJ taking some current features out to make room for multi-timbrality.

+2 ...... realy this should not very complicated to be implemented, you have 16 chanels in each of the midi inputs, and the mpc receive the information of all, and now you can send 16 chanels by each of the ouputs...... is only to "redirect" correctly the imput channels to the tracks. The was veeeeery usefull: a secuencer a groove box and a Sampler!!!! If jj put this feature in the sampler I vote him for president for the USA, Japan, Germany, Spain and Guinea ecuatorial. I promise!

Bump.

I could get the 2000xl to behave multi-timbral with the 4 programs.

Why was this functionality left off the 2500.

This would be a great addition.

Imagine you created multiple programs in a song. Each different program could be controlled via a different corresponding midi channel with Multitimbral functionality when using an external sequencer.

I do my sketches in the MPC then move midi files to an external sequencer to tweak the beat rhythmically by nudging notes around when needed.

The mpc 2500 will only allow sounds to play from the program assidned tp the itrack that is showing in the screen interface. This means that only one program can be heard at a time when using an external sequencer.

If I have a program with a chromatically tuned piano for example, it will not be heard if drums are being triggered from another program when using an external sequencer.

With an MPC2000xl all four programs could be triggered at once when using an external sequencer.

obviously this is not important to all but to some it is. Imagine if you could only trigger one VST in a software sequencer.

The mpc2500 would be much more powerful if multiple programs could be triggered from an external sequencer.

you could do that, yes.

With the JJ OS and Multi-timbral functionality the 2500 could replace the need for soft -samplers such as Kontakt and others.

It would add a string to its bow as they say.

except for that 1 issue of polyphony....unfortunately.
i wish so bad that we had 64 voices of polyphony.
the more INST programs i use the more QUICKLY i burn poly.

in the future i hope to see a GSE, global SAMPLE edit, where you can batch edit samples: i'm talkin about the following:

- bulk name edit
- bulk discard
- bulk change start/end points
- bulk kill STEREO field
- bulk apply bit convert/ring mod

quote....."we were SO close to getting "midi cc in controls qlinks""

i dont have my new mpc yet, but i've done a little reading and figured that the jj soft allowed us to send cc messages from the q-link sliders as the picture in the jj manual sugests ?
