Data wheel gone crazy!

Hey i just installed OS 2 and now my Data wheel is acting up!
When i turn the wheel is jumps around randomly but still kind of in the correct direction.
And if i turn the wheel really slowly so it is in between each click the numbers in trims screen or any other screen will continue to spin up to 5-6 digits! I thought one click was one digit

ie:
start point 00000001
turn the data wheel one click
start point 00000002

but one click makes a random jump forward and sometimes backward!

anyone else having this problem?
any solutions?
is it a bug or hardware? OS 1 was fine?

I have noticed this in oS2. Also happens when scrolling thru sample list etc.

i read somewhere that the new os2 has a shift feature to jog the wheel. if shift or mode? is on or pressed it will increase the speed of the jog wheel. i think this was to help search for files.

Can you read Concept? Is it a feature when you move data wheel one click it sometimes moves backward? Get a life.

Happens to me to! Shit is annoying as hell.

Yes this has been frustrating me to!! since OS2...When adjusting parameters, Like in trim mode, it jumps around make it hard to trim..Hope this is fixed with the next update!

I thought this was a hardware thing - I've even ordered a new jog wheel ! It really didnt occur to me that its a software OS thing - I have exactly the same symptoms. I'll double check its ok with OS1 later..
Oh well least i'll have a spare jog wheel...

The only reason I asumed it was the feature mentioned was because I thought the system was a loop cycle type. Meaning if you go all the way to the end it will reset and loop you back to the begining. This with the new speed of the jog wheel could make it seem like it is going backwards.

Just trying to help out... if you didn't notice , I registered just to do so.

Btw I don't have the os2, still tryna decide if I should upgrade or not.

I'm having the same problem with my data wheel..
I was gonna order one but now I that I read this thought I'd wait and see.

the data wheel still jumps with JJ OS2 ver 1.19 (and OS1 4.99h)!
anyone else?

I had this issue last night and equated it to hardware too. Who would have thought, a useful thread? In the 2500 JJ forum no less. Now someone tell how to make my MIDI work so my toaster can sound grimey but it has to be quality and cheap.

Late update,
I changed my Date Wheel encoder, and now it works like a charm..

It was a weird coincidence, because my Wheel started to act funny when I installed JJ.. and it got worse over time, but I couldn't go back to Akai's OS because JJ OS made the MPC a much better machine

So yeah, it was hardware related for me..

My wheel is terrible too (it has been since JJOS2). Sometimes it takes up to 5 clicks to change a value (fwd or backward) and sometimes it takes 1 click.
So, you reckon I may need to buy a new encoder and not the plastic knob that fits onto the encoder? Or do I just need to buy the plastic knob?
Anyone know the best place to buy an encoder/plastic knob in England because VST charge more than double the postage that I'm used to paying for something from America?
