JJOS on 1000 and 2500

i posted this also on 2500 JJOS forum..

i have been reading extensively about the JJOS and i noticed there arn't much difference between the 2500 and the 1000 as far as capabilities in fact, is there at all?

if there is an advantage or disadvantage of having JJOS on 1000/2500 what are they?
i want to ask a MPC vet on this one because if u thnk logically, if the 1000 can do everything as far as function goes with the JJOS vs. the 2500, why get a 2500? other than aesthetics and pad feel etc.

no reason at all really if you wanna save some cash. Like you said, aesthetics are the only diff, and personally i prefer the 1000 controls better! The cursor buttons feel better to me on the 1000, the data wheel moves more freely, everything is a lot closer together and easier to get to, making the workflow much faster. And yes i have used a 2500 quite extensively(a close friend of mine uses one). With the cursors i think it's because the 2500's are really close together and this isn't comfortable for me compared to the 1000; if i relax my hand and place it on the 1000's cursor buttons they fit perfectly on the left, up and right buttons. Only a small thing really but everything counts. I am very used to using a 1000 though aswell so this is also a contributing factor.

oh forgot to mention, the new pad upgrade is a definite priority with the 1000, but even after this expense things are still considerably cheaper than getting a 2500 (money which could be spent on other studio goodies like beer and weed)

2500 has 2 more analog outs + 2 midi outs, well worth the cash

i see your point with the 2 extra midi outs rinseout, that could be quite handy actually if some other stuff was at hand. But still personally i prefer the 1000, all my other stuff is organised on computers, the 1000 I use for samples and/or drums and run it either in sync with the comp and/or use it as the brain sequencer for all the stuff from the comp like an external synth would. Any other stuff like really technical automation or fx not within the 1000 i add later once everything is recorded down or whatever from the 1000.
That's what works for me anyway

Of course. For the extra cash you could also buy a midi patchbay or sth.

I´m looking for a Akai mpc 1000 or 2500 .But what´s the different ? I don´t want to produce with a Computer.
Is the OS for the Akai 2500 exactly the same ?
Can i put a HD into the 1000er?

I use a spectralis for grooves but i like the editor of the cubase and i think i see similar expressions between akai and the cubase editor.
Please help!!!!!

If you mean the grid edit, its still something very different from using a mouse and a computer screen. It´s more like a visual feedback of what you´ve recorded.

the spektralis has a 48voice sampler.

nothing to the import prices we get to pay for any good weed....

as far as the 1000 vs 2500 with the jj's Ithink it matters what jjos your running for example in xl it's nice to have the extra qlinks for real time mixin and changing of tempo and or tune of tracks on the fly you can make any track a little dirtier then bring it up tempo downtempo all witout changing the screens. yes the 1000 cheepeir but remember you get what you pay for .
sometimes you just dont need it all ,but sometimes you do! Get your hands on anything and have fun.

even with the upgrade the pads are still smaller. and i dont care what anybody says it makes a difference. also for anyone who produces scores the extra midis is a must. and they come in really handy on pop music too. if qall your into is flippin some beats over chops then the 1k is more than enough with the jjos. but its a little limited for robust music. remember the more midi outs and modules you have the deaper the layers of sound you can construct without using any voices. i would trade my 1k for a 2500 any day.

not to mention external midi is tighter with more outs
