what is the use of active track

I suppose I'll have to try this, but does active track also allow you to bang in some midi notes from an external controller to the active track? If so, and it allows you to record that could be pretty serious. Might have to figure out where my Remote SL 25 is stashed. The wife is always packing my ish up and putting it where she thinks it belongs .
