I also think there are more 1k owners on here as there is far less information for the JJ os on the 2500.

os 3.08 is in the stone ages compared to what the JJ os is capable of now.

Information on the JJ os seems to change by the day (especially on here), so I'm feeling the o.p's situation. My 2500 arrived two days ago with 3.09 installed which already is a huge improvement over the Akai os on my 2Kxl. I just want to upgrade to a payed for JJ os in the next month or so, but from what I have read I think os 2 would suit me best.

I think I must have overloaded my little brain over the past few weeks, because i'm sure I read that you can only buy 2xl now. Is this correct? I also read in another thread that 2xl comes with os 1 and 2, although changing between them is limited. :?

Is there a definitive answer to this as there is a lot of contradictory information?

I have also had a 2k5 for just a few days (not really played properly yet) and was a little confused by this. From my research it seems to run like this:

The only licence available for the 2k5 is JJOS2XL.

OS1 & OS2 are no longer supported. IE no new versions are going to come out.

If you buy a XL licence you can then install previous versions of OS 1 & 2 and run them.

Switching between versions of JJOS is the same as it's ever been, just you need an XL licence to use save on any of the old pay-for OSes. (Think from XL you have to go back to original AkaiOS to install OS1 or 2 IIRC. Your password is always saved so it's no problem, just takes longer than just choosing which OS to boot into like you could with the older versions.)

Please some more experienced user correct me if I'm wrong.

Personally I took the splash for XL yesterday, installed it, put a few samples on my machine and have brought it into work to do my first bit of serious playing while on the late-shift at work tonight.

Yeah it looks like the only upgrade path is to buy XL and take it from there. If XL does all I need it to then i'll stick with it, but there seems to be quite a few people on here moving back to 2. I just want an enhanced os that I don't need to update every week. :)
