That's obviously a problem if you use that function a lot, although it's not exactly a show stopper. I think we'd all love the perfect os with every bug ironed out, which will obviously never happen, but I agree that an update with one bug fix is not enough for most people.

I just think we need to accept that jj has a day job which is seperate from what he does here, so the likelyhood of any major updates is slim, especially since Nym has gone AWOL.

We 2500 and 1k users have the luxury of being able to choose one of four of the best os's ever created for the MPC, so I don't think we're doing too bad. Granted we have to pay for that luxury, but in everyday use XL hasn't crashed on me once.

I don't use all of the outputs on some of my gear all the time but I want them to work. I paid for them. In any case notes being deleted is a major show stopper for me.

My workaround is my 2000xl. I got JJ and a 2500 for its Grid. **** a workaround, I want that shit to work as advertised.

My 2000xl would occaisionally crash causing a loss of a days work, or even worse it sometimes corrupted entire projects on the zip disc whilst saving. That's a show stopper, not losing a few notes!

Never had a problem like that on my 2000xl but I've got a SCSI CF drive.

Really? I think the bugs aren't your biggest problem.

If not the biggest, certainly one of the biggest. It froze again today when passing lots of SysEX data through. With a PC the software can have auto-recovery, restoring your project after the crash. With the MPC it's all volatile in RAM, completely gone as soon as it freezes.

Unless you save constantly, which interferes with smooth workflow, it is a serious problem. What is the point of making music if, after all your hard work and time, it disappears spontaneously without hope of recovery? Have you ever had that happen? I hadn't until I got an MPC.

It's a main reason why I got a 2500 + JJ OS after years of not using my 500. But it turns out this setup is unstable also. I can try getting new RAM, but the problem most likely resides either in the hardware, or firmware. If any firmware is stable, then it isn't the hardware, it's JJ OS.

Man I had my 2500LE with 1.16 left on for a week and then banged it all day on Sunday with all kinds of external synths, including MKS-50/PG-300 and Prophet 08. No crashes.

What are you doing that requires so much sysex?

Cool, got it. Thanks. That's great that he got to it so fast but it also kinda sucks that other user's bug reports have gotten ignored specially considering that many were probably reported several updates ago. But one bug fix is better than none.

END POINT SCRUB is still for me a big bug problem in XL. The work around by JJ is a nightmare. It used to work perfectly on OS1.

Using only one Q link at a time could be seen as a bug.......it really bugs me anyway!

In general I find XL solid and an amazing improvement from the Akai and OS1. It has made the 1000 an awesome machine given its size.

i find all of this **** hilarious. in all the years with my 2kxl it froze once. and i lost a beat i had been working on for 5 minutes. i bang away with my 1k with os1 for days and not a single glitch. aside from a few extra notes being added into my seq every now and then. but never a loss of work. i own os2 but rarely use it. with my gear i just want it to work. if it has problems like you guys are talking about. i either use a different firmware or i ditch the piece all together.

this guy always had an agenda aside from what everybody thought. and i said it from the start. he dont really care if your os has bugs. he squeezed every bit of cash out of this work and now hes done. or at least moved on to the next venture. whether it be personal or the jjseq. which by the way is substandard in every aspect except for it will load mpc seq and pgm files. big f-in deal. and when he can charge the sheep for that he will capitalize on that too. enjoy what you have or move on. your music will suffer if you dwell on whether this guy is going to fix his last project for you. if you want an os that works go back to os1 or buy a different piece of gear.
