The sequence chuggin in trim mode is not an issue - its always been that way as far as i can remember - in the other os's too. Also the akai os will not let you do this at all - it is something that JJ added

This feature is not really for use while recording or performing - its more for being able to edit samples whilst not interrupting the workflow . as long as you can preview your edits whilst the beat plays its all good

Of course he is pulling away from the original intentions of Akai, that is why he started the JJOS!

Filter , Resonance, Pitch bend, and Modulation all working in multimbral mode!!

True,, Akai OS could not edit while sequence playing,, ! Good reminder. But in recent times of JJ, this feature has started to work poorly. Older versions of JJ XL had no slow downs for me. Now it's gotten annoying. I believe this may be since I'm using input thru. Or NDC. Something is putting a hurting on my machine.

yes, much more use to me than seq change - although i can imagine this might be a problem for some . multitimbral mode and seq change by pc change is an either/or option.

jj....u r DYNOMITE!!! truly making the mpc a powerhouse.

Is there any reason to stay with regular OS2 now? And I don't mean that as a rhetorical question either I'm being literal. I just lost track after the whirlwind of XL updates and additions these past few months.

Edit: I've been an XL user since day one so I'm not familiar with the OS2 functionality advantages.

there are/were features that got left behind in the "whirlwind"
in os1 it was that sweet velocity control we had. i would LOVE to get that back
in os2 it was all the dank qlink stuff you could do (really only mattered if you were an "all inthe box" typa dude.

Ahh yes, the qlinks, I thought that was fixed for some reason but nah it's just different (shows how much I use them ). I would definitely love to get back the velocity control as well. That is something I would use on a regular basis if I had the option.

Well I've just set up my BCR2000 to control vols and pans and it works great! I'm so pleased this has been added it's very very useful. A few comments on my brief time using it:

The fact that it uses the standard midi cc nos 7 and 10 causes problems with connected midi devices as all synths respond to these cc. If you have a midi channel selected with track thru mode switched on, any vol/pan will be sent to the external gear. It would work better for me if it were 2 other assignable numbers instead, that way they could be made to fit with an existing setup without causing volume and pan problems.

The mixer could do with a snapshot type function which sends out all the cc values on the click of a button, which would be really handy for updating the external controller that is being used to control the vol + pans, in my case the BCR. As it stands all my levels are set to 0 when it is switched on, and so I have to set them all when a project is loaded which is problematic if you have a mix that is good and want to keep. Ideally along with the snapshot, moving a slider in the mixer should also send out the cc value so that the external controller will be updated. The snapshot could be automatic when starting a new sequence which would actually work really well.

I am also left craving a cc for track mutes, and especially the effect send level/FX 1-2 which would bring Dubbing possibilities to the MPC bigtime! Add to that a cc for physical output and then the entire mixer would be controllable and provide even more dubbing possibilities using the extra outs as external effect sends.

I love the fact that you can record the ccs and the info is updated in the mixer in realtime! Very nice. Great for wild panning, much better than using the q-slider.

Thanks JJ for this update, it's made my day. Haven't played with the other features yet, I don't think I would be using the multi-timbral mode, as the MPC is the heart of my studio sequencing all the midi gear.

The BCR also thanks you as it's been gathering dust for the last few years.
