Yes, after installing OSXL I shut down the machine, even waited 10 seconds, then I hold down [Erase] and turn on the machine while holding down [Erase] untill i see the MAIN screen.

Today I have:

Reinstalled Akai OS 1.24 ( http://www.akaipro.com/company/media2.p ... PFI6AWE%3D ) and I could see the internal Drive, but i can't format the internal drive.

The format option is there on F2 but nothing happens when I press it. I can only format my CF Card.

Installed JJOS 3.10 ( http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/mpc2500/ ) botted while holding down [Erase] and I could see the internal drive.

The format option is there on F2 but nothing happens when I press it. I can only format my CF Card.

Installed JJOS-XL ( http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/mpc2500/) but now I can't see the drive.

Also, EVERY TIME I restart the MPC I have to manually set the contrast of the screen. It doesn't remeber the screen contrast setting. This doesn't happens in other JJOS versions or in Akai OS.

If you can't format it on any OS sounds like you have a busted drive or it in a such state that it can't be formatted. Do you have a HD enclosure so you could plug it to a computer or other drive you could test?

...but my harddive works fine in all other OS, just not OS-XL, so I hardly think it sounds like a faulty drive. I can find, load and save on the drive whem I'm using Akai OS, JJOS3.10 and OS1. I just can't see the drive when I'm using OS-XL.

I'm 100% sure that if I remove the drive from the MPC and plug it into my computer, it will work just fine.

This only happens in OS-XL

Edit:

In Akai OS I go to [other / pad10] -> [Utility] -> Format but I can only chose to format the CF card.

In JJOS 3.10 (free) I can chose the internal drive -> Window -> press format but nothing happens. Like the button is disabled. I can chose the CF Card, press format and I will get the format dialog box

So, I decided to open my newly bought MPC 2500 SE - Special Edition, which to my knowledge should have 128gb ram (it has) and internal harddrive... however, after opening the MPC i found out it didn't contain the harddrive :-O

Sorry for wasting everybodies time instead of opening it to begin with. I was sure the SE I bought contained a harddrive and that the INTERNAL disk i found in the load and save menu was referring to a INTERNAL harddive.

I'm a moron and someone should shoot me.

Thanks for all the replies and help :-)

at least the moron made an effort and found out he had no hard drive.
I actually said load and should have said saved of course. But also assumed he was a confused about it and it must have confused me :)
Time to get a hard drive then. Solid state would be the best

The hard drives are freaking expensive, considering how old the ATA / IDE technology is :-O

It's almost cheaper to buy an SSD then an 2.5" IDE...waddafug

Wait... You can use a solid state drive?? I thought it had to be ata/ide only, or are they the same thing?? I'm not entirely clear on the hd situation. please explain
