The 3000 and the 4000 are tight. The 2500 not so much, and I'm sure the 1000 would clock in the same due to the processor being the same. The 5000 is a slob. I've read complaints up here about it, and this test solidifies that. I wish there were results for the 2000 and 2000XL. I'm willing to bet the 2000 is closer to the 3000. I have no idea about the 2000XL. But I'm sure the 2000 is tighter than the 1000 and 2500.

Thanks for the link. But there were no results posted for the 2000. There was some talk about the XL, but nothing noteworthy. Mostly drama.

@distortedtekno I must've gave you the wrong link and I do apologize man. I'll have to find it then. I know it was on gearslutz, it was tests done by some other people using the same methods.

I sold my 2000xl for a 2500...
The timing on the 2000xl deteriorated over the years and in the end effects units working on MIDI clock ended up doing really really weird things. Possibly could have been due to a capacitor on it's way out, but I couldn't see any physical signs of that. I wouldn't know how to find it electronically though(oscilloscope and multimeter??) . It worked fine when synced to something external.

I sold the 8 output board, effects board and unit separately and made up nearly half the cost of a 2500 modded by 16squarez .. with blue LED's , large screen,blue fat pads and black everything else...
The timing is more solid on the 2500 in my experience.. I can see in my DAW there is a little forward and back drift on the clock, but not enough to cause any noticeable artefacts, let alone making effects units do trippy things.

Furthermore, the features available with OS128xl.. make it a completely different beast.... I would not trade it to go back to an older model.. I would consider a 1000 with large screen and all the same mods, simply to save real estate..

My 2000XL was sloppy as hell. I hated sequencing with that thing. Don't know why it did that, but it seemed to truncate the end of the sequence a bit.
